CW Blue v CW Green
at the CWBCC Stadium
Nathan Hoy lifted 3 sixes over the course of the 48th and 49th over to pull Green back from defeat in a thrilling matchup against Blue. With 35 runs needed off the last 3 overs, Hoy came through in the clutch, lofting Demeza for a straight six, then swinging Patrick over midwicket twice in the following over.
Green then just need 5 runs for victory, and Liam Camps entrusted young Travis Demeza with the final over of the innings. He was certainly rewarded. Demeza bowled full and straight and prevented Nicholas Rose from scoring off the final ball to complete a rare tie.
CW Green matched Blue with 260 runs in 50 overs, despite Camps' 4 middle order wickets. Blue earlier batted first upon winning the toss and witnessed a wonderfully confident hundred from de Silva and a solid fifty from the skipper to get to 260/9.
Nathan Hoy and Bryce Cunningham were superb with the new ball and at the end, but a big contribution also came from the duo of Garven and Walsh, who took 2 big wickets each. Continuing the theme of crucial part-timers, Andrew Cloete tried to make up for his first ball duck with a economical 2-wicket spell.
