I edited the ICC database using Magpie to replace Middlesex with Cricket Web and all the players were changed to people who signed up. I post the progress here

After the celebrations it was always going to be hard for CW to be up for the next game, especially since results elsewhere had already guarenteed the National League trophy was theirs. Warwickshire is probably not the side to face in these circumstances but that was the hand that CW were dealt so they would have to deal with it.

Losing the toss was the first thing to go wrong, but it didn't look to bad after Malone and Chapman took 2 early wickets to leave Warwickshire 19-2. Mark Wagh and Nick Knight played well though to take the score to 78 before Knight was out to Chapman but that only brought Dominic Ostler to the crease and he absolutely destroyed the CW Bowlers. His 123* came off only 83 balls and only Malone was able to go for less than 6 and a half an over, Thomas went for 72 from his 9. Warwickshire scored 314-6 from 45 and it looked a very daunting task for the champions.

Vimes and Bennett put up 59 for the first wicket but CW lost 3 for 15 to be 74-3. Nichani and Bluefox put on 70 and Bluefox also put on 83 with Craze, but when the Fox went for 90 from 78 the innings crumbled and CW were all out for 246 in the 39th over. A dissapointing loss but another trophy in the bag.

Fair enough there had been a fair few sore heads for the last game but the lads were none too happy at the pasting they had got from Warwickshire. with only 2 games left in the NL they were looking to finish the season in the best possible way, only 2 defeats from 14 had left them champions already but Nottinghamshire were next in line on a pitch that cried out runs. Changes had to be made because of the international call ups and rookie Nathan Hoy was called up to an unfamiliar postion at the top of the order. Cloete also made a comeback in the middle order.

Winning the toss was what we wanted and we had no hesitation in batting first, captain Chapman clearly not fancying the bowling conditions. CW made a very rapid start, passing the 50 in the sixth over as standin opener Hoy unveiled a number of flowing drives and Brad Smith at the other end was just as brutal. They put on 72 in no time before Hoy drove at one too many and was caught at slip for 33, made from just 21 balls. The other batsmen sensed the mood and came out all guns blazing, it didnt quite work out for Weber(18 from 14) and Cloete struggled(3 from 12) but Brad Smith carried on his excellent work to make 84 from 69 and Nichani came in and pulverised the attack for 123* from 104 balls. He received valuable support from Craze (33 from 25) and Kearsley(40* from 30), before CW finished on an awesome 342-5 after 45.

Notts response to the huge total was full of character, the openers absolutely tore into the bowlers, bringing the century up in the tenth over and slamming 116 for the opening stand. further solid partnerhips left them well placed at 229-3 well up with the runs rate but the introduction of Chapman and Cloete brought the came to the Web as the pair toook 7 wickets between them and effected a run out to leave Notts all out for 264 with 9 overs unused. Another win for CW only 2 CC games and one NL to go for the season.

Woops, I got hammered for 120 runs in those 2 games. Still, only 2 bad games, I think it would be unfair to drop me after them.

There are 3 games left in the season, i will post the averages at the end of the season.

Which brings me to a question for everyone.

Due to my impressive managment skills, and everyones fantastic performances, it looks likely that i might be offered the England job, i would like to ask the opinions of the squad if this is the case, should i

a) refuse the job
b) take the job
c) take the job for the winter, refuse it at the start of the summer and continue like this, as then i would play all the CW games but we would still get to go on tours

Answers on a post(card) please

Second place still up for grabs in the county chamionship, Yprkshire too far out of our reach. Nrevertheless it was a bit of an experimental side thattook to the park. Chaulk and Smith openeing with Hoy at 3. CW won the toss and put Essex in to bat.

Looked an alright decision early on as Wright and Kearsley each got a wicket 4-2 but the next pair added 102 before another 3 quick wickets put CW back in charge at 128-5 alas thats as good as it got, Habib hit 165 and Dakin 110 as Essex wriggled out of trouble and posted an imposing 438 all out.

The reply saw both openers go early but Hoy again showed promise, he and Nichani added 116 before Hoy went for 68 but Cloete only joined in the fun. Nichani made 127 and Cloete 88. Then Craze hit a nice 60 but Thomas was the star of the lower order, adding 76 with Chapman(6) for the last wicket and making a career best 84. CW score 514. Evening session day 3.

Rueben Thomas was the chief destroyer with 5-69 and his all round performance earned the MOM award. Cloet chipped in with 3-19 as Essex were skittle for 169 to leave not a lot to win.

The big boys were back for the last CC game of the season and with 2nd already secured, there was a party atmosphere at The Web Arena. All those not playing were dressed up in fancy dress to entertain the crowd, and although Neil forgot and came in his normal clothes, the crowd thought he was dressed as a clown anyway.

The match itself was also a feast for the crowd, one of the Webs most convincing performances in this triumphant year. Winning the toss, Bennett was slow and Vimes scored 58 in their opening partnership of 72, when Bennett was out though, things accelerated. Vimes raced to a century and though Nichani fell cheaply the batsmen continued to entertain. Bluefox scored 95 and Cloete 42. Kearlsey hit a 50 and Chapman and Thomas contributed aother big partnership, this time Chapman contributed more and they added 58. 448 all out
