The rich boys from Surrey were the next to feel the power of the CW boys, who carried on with the four paceman battery as they continued their charge to the National League trophy.

Winning the toss on a cloudy day helped as Mark Butcher was out first ball to Mr Wright a perfect yorker to start. Kearsley soon removed Ramprakash for 1 to leave Surrey 5-2. Ally Brown held them up for a while before Malone snuck one through his defences but Adam Hollioake was soon on the attack. Chapman's introduction reaped instant rewards as he removed the barnacle like Ratcliffe and Newman in the same over. Tudor gave Hollioake some support but Chapman took another 2 quick wickets to remove him and Salisbury. Hollioake was the eigth to go Hall knocking his off stump out the ground.

2 great partnerships got the CW innings off to a good start. Weber and Eclipse both contributed 40's but it was Bennett again with 72 that was the star. Craze hit the winning runs.

after a few days off the boys got to lay in to Surrey again, this time in the county championship and looking to get a rare win. International call ups again robbed the team of Bennett, Malone, BK Smith and Jamee Gray so the side was changed somewhat. SamVimes returned to the side to open, Pickup came in to strengthen the spin department, while Bluefox also returned to the middle order.

Bowling first we got a great start, Mr Wright picked two eearly wickets up, both openers as Surrey were 16-2. A wicket from Hall just before lunch kept CW on the offensive, but Hollioakes half century saw Surrey reach 201-4. Three wickets for no run closed CW's grip on the game though and with Hall and Chapman bowling well late on they restricted Surrey to 242.

The Web's reply began with Elipse trying to hit it to all parts, he scored 34 of the opening partnership of 46 before skying one to get out. Unfortunately the whole of Day 2 bar 40 mins was washed out meaning CW would have to crack on to get a result. The recalled Vimes was, however, in no mood to give his wicket away and he put on 92 with Weber(44), and 125 with Nichani(70) before being joined by the other recalled player Bluefox and they added 133 before Vimes perished for a fine 169. It wasnt fnished there though as Craze played very well for his 96 and enabled Blufox to get his century before the tail fell away to leave CW 586 all out and with a big lead.

It was now a battle to get Surrey out before the time ran out. Butcher fell to Kearlsey but Ratcliffe hung in there for a while before Hall removed him. From then on it was a spinners show as Brown and Hollioke resisited with half centuries to take Surrey 153-2, Pickup removed both and although Shahid and Tudor showed some resistance it was the dismissal of the earlier two that sealed Surrey's fate. Chapman adn Pickup took 4 each to bowl Surrey out for 307 in the evening session adn give CW the innings victory.

Another game and another easy win, things are starting to click for the Web in the county chanpionship now, its just a shame it couldnt happen earleir as the title would be ours on this form.

Win toss, bat - one of the easiest decisions of the season for the captain. Hewitt removed Bennett and Weber in quick succesion but then Vimes and Nichani added 276 for the third wicket, both scored centuries and their dismissals held no respite for Kent, Bluefox and Malone hitting 50's whilst Craze scored an unbeaten century before CW delcared on 565-6.

The bowling would have been straightforward but for one man Midlane who's magnificent 165 saved Kent from utter humiliation, only one other man got past 15 and he only got 29. Halsey was the pick of the bowlers with 4-72 but there were wickets for Chapman, Malone and Nath. All out for 302 meant the follow on.

The 2nd time round was even worse for Kent as they were torn apart by the spinners, Chapman in particular, with 6-40 destriyed them for 154 and another innings win for CW.

The day of the match dawned and the pressure was there to see on the players faces, could they become the first CW side to bring home the C & G trophy. Could they write their names in history.

The selection problem was quite simple, don't change a winning side is the maxim and with 2 innings victories in the last 2 matches the same side was given the task of taking the glory. Bennett got a little excited after missing out on the last one but overenthusiasm can be forgiven.

Yorkshire would be a tough side, and they struck the first blow in winning the toss, thought the decision to bat first was greated with surprise in the CW dressing room as the overhead cloud looked great for bowling.

What followed was to be called one of the greatest finals ever...

0.6 Nath to Vaughan, lifter on off stump Vaughan can only fend and it takes the edge and goes behind where Craze takes an easy catch - Early breakthrough!
2nd over Malone is tight but Craze lets 7 byes through!
7.3 Malone to Stead, bouncer, stead hooks, skies it Nichani gets there in plenty of time but fumbles the easy catch!
9.3 Malone to stead, huge LBW appeal, umpire turns it down, replays suggest hitting middle half way up.
11.1 Malone to Stead, outswinger takes the edge and Vimes picks him up at first slip. 50-2
15.6 Halsey to Mcgrath, big swipe, straight in to the hands of Nath - 68-3
17.5 Halsey to Richardson, flipper, batsman bamboozled plum LBW - 71-4
Quiet for a bit
30.3 Chapman to Craven, tries to cut, thin edge which Craze takes smartly- 117-5
35th over, Hall back, smashed for 2 fours, then beats the batsman outside the off stump
37th over Chapman goes for 14
39th over, 6 off the first 2, then..
38.5 Chapman to White, edges behind and caught, the top scorer goes.
38.6 Chapman to Wize, bat-pad and snapped up at short leg, 2 in 2 - 165-7
40.4 Chapman to Hamilton through the gate, bowled im!
41.3 Hall to Silverwood, hoiked for 6
42.6 Malone to Silverwood, went for the big hit again missed at plumb LBW
47.1 ITs ALL over, Hoggard misses a straight one from Nath and CW need 195 to win.

3.1 Hamilton to Bennett, quick single not quick enough, bails are off and Vimes has gone(23-1)
5.2 Hamilton to Bennett, awful shot scoops it to Sidebottom, gone for 12 (39-1)
5.3 OH NO, same shot as Bennett's Nichani goes first ball (39-3)
7.6 Hamilton to Bluefox, gone for a big one, no need, caught mid on - 45-4
8.3 Hoggard to Weber, abysmal shot chipped in the air, turns and walks before the catch is taken. (45-5)
Game is slipping away!
11.2 Hamilton to Craze, too quick for him, off stump, cartweeling away - 59-6
Still 136 needed, Malone in with Patrick Nath - only the tail left.
13.1 Hamilton to Nath, DROPPED! simple catch to slip but its put down.
14.6 Sidebottom to Malone, driven aerially, there's a fielder there but he can only get a hand on it. Another chance goes down.
17.5/17.6 Malone crashed Silverwood for successive 4's through midwicket.
21.4 Close chance for a run out but Nath is home - just!
30.2 White to Malone, egdes and dropped! could be important that one - and there's words exchange between the keeper and the batsman, Malone giving some back after the sledging he's had and a bit of "you've just dropped the cup"
30.6 Whitle to Malone, drives it back past the bowler and thats his 50!
37.3 Hoggard to Nath, edged and dropped but a NO ball anyway! Getting close now.
43.2 White to Malone, smashed through midwicket, 43.4 driven over cover for 6!
47.5 Hamilton to Nath, bang - the winning runs

Fans invade the picth as CW celebrate their first ever trophy! Malone 91* MOM. But dont forget Nath's 37 from 107 deliveries to help. Glorious win!

A stunning match in the county championship, one where CW went from down and out for the first 2 days, to pushing for victory on the final day only to settle for another draw, the eigth in 12 matches that put CW 2nd albeit with most teams having 2 games in hand.

international call-ups and form issued meant a changed side and a recall for Nichani, lanquishing in the reserves for so long, given a chance to show what he's got. There were places also for Pickup and Hall but the bowling remains the greatest worry in County Championship, with Malone in terrible form with the ball and left out of the side.

Losing the toss was dissapointing and so was the start from the bowlers - All three pacemen struggled and as lunch approached Hampshire were well on top. 83-0 became 90-2 though as Thomas got a double breakthrough to even it up at lunch. Pickups bowling though was abysmal, full toss after long hop was desptached to the fence as Hampshire went along at a healthy lick. Kendall made 91 before being dismissed by Thomas but Prittipaul hit a century and marshalled the lower order to enable Hampshire to 462 though an injury to Shaun Udal after being hit on the forearm by a Mr Wright beamer could have proved crucial on a spinning wicket.

Fernando made full use of the new ball to remove 3 batsmen including Nichani for 2 and Part timer Laney removed Weber -70-4 that became 114-6 as Morris struck twice, CW in deep trouble. Mr Wright knuckled down to score 46 being the last man out. BK Smith top scored with 77 but CW could only muster 214 and were forced to follow on. Laney's figures of 3-27 tells a story in itself.

38-2 in the second innings didn't look good and it brought Nichani to the wicket. Ferd made 64 before retiring hurt with a broken thumb and Smith was out for 23, but Nichani was going well past his 50 and when joined by Craze he was looking confortable. Incredably the two of them added an unbroken stand of 306 in 94 overs with the recalled Nichani scoring 261* and Craze hitting 136* CW delcared on 532-3 in the afternoon to leave Hampshire around 280 to chase.

Things looked good when Mr Wright struck in the 1st over and then Pickup added a second in the 8th but Kendall(60*) and Crawley(39*) batted out to force CW to take a draw, but the phenominal performance of Nichani will be remembered for a while.
