Current Selection policy will continue for now, the board would like to draw attention the previous statement released on the subject of players unhappy in the CW squad.

The Board said:
“The CW board would like to emphasise the Team Ethic which this club adheres to, we expect members of the squad to accept the team selections and let their performances do the talking. However we do not wish to have unhappy players at the club and any player that wishes to may have his contract terminated at the end of the season and be released from the CW side.”
Next - C & G Semi Final....

The Place - Old Trafford
The clash of the Titans - Lancashire Vs Cricket Web in the C & G Semi final.

CW have full squad to choose from, the selection meeting is tense and lasts for 6 hours. The simple decision include Bennett's return at the top of the innings and Kearsley's return for Richards. More difficult decisions involve leaving out Age Master the England star and young keeper Gray. Bluefox makes an unexpected return and Weber also comes back. Hall, Nath and Pickup are in contention for the last spot in the bowling line up but Nath takes it by a nose.

Flintoff is included by Lancashire, who's side is a bit unfamiliar with the likes of Roberts and Haynes included. CW Lose the toss and are asked to bowl first, the weather is sunny, forecast is unsettled and the pitch will wear, not good.

Malone and Kearsley open and keep it tight without penetrating early before Kearsley strikes in the 8th over to dismiss Swann for 18 at 27-1 with an inswinging yorker. He follows it up in the 12th over with a pearler to dismiss Flintoff for 8, Weber taking the catch at second slip. 39-2 becomes 39-3 2 balls later as Lloyd edges behind to Craze. 3 Wickets for Kearlsey. Nath replaces Malone, who's 7 overs cost 18, but goes for 9 in his first over. Lancs 53-3 after 15. Thomas comes on at the other end, but after a couple of tight overs he makes a contribution in the field, snapping up Roberts in the slips off Nath - 66-4. Cloete replaces Nath and goes for 8, but next over Driver is clean bowled by Thomas, 103-5 and CW sniff the tail. The last ball of Thomas 9th over completely bamboozles Schofield and knocks back middle to leave Lancs 121-6 from 32. Thomas finishes 10-0-33-2.

Nath returns but Chilton comes on the attack and both he and Thomas take some stick as Lancs reach 176-6 with 6 left, and the opening bowlers to return. Kearlsey had 3-24 from 7 but 20 come off his last 3. Although Chilton is finally out in the 49th over to Malone, Lancs make 220-7 on the back of his 90.

The reply starts badly, getting bogged down Bennett hits out, or at least tries to, and is caught for 7, Weber follows for 5 as CW are 27-2 after 10. 48-2 after 15 as Bluefox and Ferd rebuild. Schofield removes Ferd for 18, Cloete falls to Chapple - 86-4 in the 22nd. But Eclipse comes to the wicket and adds some security at one end as Bluefox passes 50. After 30 overs they reach 140-4 with 81 needed and Bluefox 64 from 63, Eclipse 26 from 32 - the fox is back.

Bluefox goes to a jaffa from Flintoff but at 166-5 his 74 left CW looking good with Craze, Kearsley and Malone to come. Eclipse completed a 50 as at 40 over CW were 194-5 needing 27. With just 12 needed Eclipse was out for 64 but Kearlsey hit his first 2 for 4 and then hit the winning runs to give CW a 4 wicket win. Lords again - Yorkshire await !

Bored tonight so i will prob post a few games...

Patrick Nath is out for 2 weeks with a groin injury. One has to ask what he was diong to get injured? :p

Nath's injury meant their was one enforced change in the line-up for the next match and there was also one selection issue as Cloete was left out due to poor form. Chapman and Pickup were called up.

We won the toss and put Somerset in on a dry pitch at CW HQ. The weather was unsettled and Bennett wanted to get the best out of overhead condtions with sun forecast later. THe fast bowlers were innefectual early on though and Somerset took advantage putting on 79 for the first wicket, Tresco hitting 60 and Lathwell 50, Holloway hit 52 from 37 balls as Somerset attacked the spinners, especially Thomas and Pikcup but the quickies forced a late collapse when they came back. 237-9 was a decent score though.

Looked more than decent when CW were 44-3, but Bluefox started a recovery with 39 and Eclipse and Craze also got a few but at 135-7 it looked all over for CW. Enter Rueben Thomas to join Malone and they added 75 with both scoring at a run a ball, Thomas fell 4 short of a half century but Buggsys 42 from 42 balls led CW to victory that had seemed far away. 8 points cllear at the top with 6 games left.

Canterbury, cloudy, and the toss won, CW bowled.

Key and Smith went well until Wright Struck twice in an over, 65-2. More runs then Malone and Thomas struck in quick succession, Kent in trouble at 118-4. Tredwell and Ealham add 61, Thomas takes a pounding as do Mr Wright and Kearlsey as Nixon and McCage take Kent to a competetive 248-7.

Bennett - Golden duck, Eclipse a quick 22, Bluefox also a duck - CW 51-3. Rescue man - Weber 71 from 59, BK Smith and Craze with support, still a game on though at 174-6 with 75 needed but Kearsley hits 56 not out and Richards supports well. Another win and CW now have 10 from 11 and on course for the title.

A stunning match in the county championship, one where CW went from down and out for the first 2 days, to pushing for victory on the final day only to settle for another draw, the eigth in 12 matches that put CW 2nd albeit with most teams having 2 games in hand.

international call-ups and form issued meant a changed side and a recall for Nichani, lanquishing in the reserves for so long, given a chance to show what he's got. There were places also for Pickup and Hall but the bowling remains the greatest worry in County Championship, with Malone in terrible form with the ball and left out of the side.

Losing the toss was dissapointing and so was the start from the bowlers - All three pacemen struggled and as lunch approached Hampshire were well on top. 83-0 became 90-2 though as Thomas got a double breakthrough to even it up at lunch. Pickups bowling though was abysmal, full toss after long hop was desptached to the fence as Hampshire went along at a healthy lick. Kendall made 91 before being dismissed by Thomas but Prittipaul hit a century and marshalled the lower order to enable Hampshire to 462 though an injury to Shaun Udal after being hit on the forearm by a Mr Wright beamer could have proved crucial on a spinning wicket.

Fernando made full use of the new ball to remove 3 batsmen including Nichani for 2 and Part timer Laney removed Weber -70-4 that became 114-6 as Morris struck twice, CW in deep trouble. Mr Wright knuckled down to score 46 being the last man out. BK Smith top scored with 77 but CW could only muster 214 and were forced to follow on. Laney's figures of 3-27 tells a story in itself.

38-2 in the second innings didn't look good and it brought Nichani to the wicket. Ferd made 64 before retiring hurt with a broken thumb and Smith was out for 23, but Nichani was going well past his 50 and when joined by Craze he was looking confortable. Incredably the two of them added an unbroken stand of 306 in 94 overs with the recalled Nichani scoring 261* and Craze hitting 136* CW delcared on 532-3 in the afternoon to leave Hampshire around 280 to chase.

Things looked good when Mr Wright struck in the 1st over and then Pickup added a second in the 8th but Kendall(60*) and Crawley(39*) batted out to force CW to take a draw, but the phenominal performance of Nichani will be remembered for a while.

The next game gave the chance for Cricket Lovers to get a look of the 2 cup finalists in action against each other as CW took on Yorkshire at Headingly in the National League. With Ferd out through injury, Sean Bennett slotted straight back in the side from Internatioanl duty and there were also recall for Malone and Chapman.

The pitch was lovely but the overhead conditions were rank and so nobody was surprised when Bennett put Yorkshire in when he won the toss. Kearlsey picked up a simple caught and bowled in the fourth over to remove Mcgrath for a duck but Vaughan and Richardson put on 70. The introduction of Malone reaped dividends as he dismissed Vaughan and Lumb to rock the Yorkies. Then the spinner Chapman got in on the act, Top scorer Richardson and Craig White his victims. Hall produced a double strike to get rid of Hammilton and Mann and Chapman and Malone got another each, but Sidebottom hit 10 off the last over to take Yorkshire to 179-9 from the 45.

Eclipse went with the score on 11 but successive partnerships of 68 with Weber and Nichani saw Bennett lead the CW side home comfortably in the end - the England star notching another one day century , just a shame he cant do it in FC. His 110* also earned him the MOM award.
