Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I'm following the 2nd test through cricinfo as I'm nominally at work, and it struck me that two names in England's "most viewed players" list stuck out amidst the usual suspects:

What have Messrs Clark and Eskinazi done to attract Joe Cricketnerd's attention?

I think I am pretty well versed in Test cricketers, but never heard these two names before......

Funnily enough, that U.S. league I ranted about two posts back. At least for Eskinazi, that is.

Is that even possible these days? Outside of the County Championship, does any FC comp allow overseas players?

Mason Crane played a first class match for NSW not that long ago. He'd impressed with grade performances.

The Plunket Shield in NZ also allows overseas players although they're rare these days. I know Brendan Taylor and Kyle Jarvis both played FC cricket in NZ. Craig Cachopa played a season as an overseas player for Wellington.

I thought Frank Tarrant might be an interesting case, with Victoria, Middlesex and the Europeans in the Indian Quadrangular Trophy, but in fact Middlesex were never champions in the decade he played for them.

Zimbabwe comp is full of poms isn't it? Or is that not FC anymore

It is still FC and does allow overseas.

In recent years it's been mostly Zimbabwe-born county players like Ben Curran and Eddie Byrom. More and more Pakistanis are involved as well. Some are there to boost their chances of a UK visa, others seek to emulate Sikandar Raza.

It may seem counter-intuitive for a Pakistani player to go to Zimbabwe, but apparently if you have first-class experience your chances of a visa for the UK increase - which opens up club cricket as a professional there. Zim are keen for players to come and improve the standard, so it's a win-win.

Antum Naqvi and Faraz Akram are the two most successful Zimbo-Pakistanis after Raza, though they are both children of Pakistani immigrants to other countries (Belgium/Australia in Naqvi's case, Saudi for Akram).

Dean Jones averaged 46.55 in Tests and 44.61 in ODI's. Has anyone else ever got within 2 runs difference in format averages?

For about 15-20 years starting in about the late 1980s, nearly every international player wore sunnies in the field. Now it seems a lot less of them do, and I wonder why it’s gone out of style

Is Murray Goodwin another possible? Certainly won a CC with Sussex, also played FC Cricket in Aus, Zim and SA.
