Cheating

Grey area at worst, I'd say. Spit's allowed for polishing but not "outside agents" (or wording akin, CBA to check). So I think it depends if slavia with sugar from Murray Mints is considered at outside agent.
Most cricketers chew gum, that contains sugar,so if Murray Mints have any effect on the ball, gum and whatever else cricketers chew during games must also have the same effect.

No what? are you saying chewing gum doesn't have the same effect as boiled sweets, the fact is they contain sugar, so if a rule comes in ,they'd have to ban all sugar based sweets. Most of the time when we watch cricket games ,we don't have a clue what the cricketers are chewing or sucking so it's impossible judge.

How can anyone forget St Dhoni's effort with the bounced catch from Pietersen that landed a foot in front of him?

The entire Indian team should stand condemned for that, well at least the slips cordon, who all were happy to maintain the appeal when they must have seen where it landed. This thing wasnt even close, it bounced so far in front of him it was an insult to common sense to claim it. Unless they weren't, to man, watching the ball. Not sure if St Sachin of the Selective Deafness was there at the time. I like to think he was.

Wow what a provocative post. I wish Sir Alex was here.

Why? He's had no problem condemning plenty of other sides and players. That was a horrible incident. As bad as Latif's (iirc as to the Pakistan keeper who was banned).

And that Bucknor pic is gold btw.

Yeah that is what I'm saying. It depends what's in them doesn't it?

They all miss the point anyway. Lip balm is by far the best thing to put on the ball. Did it Saturday. Preserves the shine nicely.

Here's my beef. Yes, he's in the wrong. Yes, inadvertently or otherwise, he's cheating. I don't feel though, that it's fair or reasonable to then to around tagging him as a cheater for the rest of his career, which is what some people seem to revel in doing for some of our players.
This is such a winner of a post, agree completely.

What is the minimum amount of cheating you'd have to do to be labeled a cheater? Is putting pressure on the umpire by constant appeals ala many bowlers in many sides?

Who has had no problem condemning plenty of other sides and players ? Tendulkar ?

I have no problem with People calling a Dhoni whatever but to suggest that the ball landed 'A foot in front of him" is simply dishonest. And to suggest that somehow entire Indian team was part of that and to throw an insult at Tendulkar is provocative.

And if you seriously believed that Dhoni's catch was as bad as Latif's then I guess you have left me speechless.

It makes you a bit of a tool, but not a cheater I feel.

No, Sir Alex has.. You referred to him in your post.

Dhoni's catch, if we call it that, was an abomination. Just as Clarke's against NZ was.

Yeah, but your post shows that he is not the only one to make provocative posts.

It is perfectly acceptable to hold that opinion, but to post the following garbage is just laughable :-

So what if my post was provocative?

And it's not laughable. So you think fielders in the slips wouldn't have seen that? If that's the case they're not watching the game. I find that hard to believe.

Jeez, if people find that provocative then it's a good job their team has never used mints on the ball

Jacknife, don't listen to Burgey about the mints, he's just a ****

I never got the problem with mints. Are you going to legislate what type of gum or mints you can eat?

They did nothing against the rules. If Australia didn't, that's just them deciding not to use a perfectly allowable technique in sport to improve performance.
