Let me know whether this will help :

(a) The third incident happened in Pakistan in the late 1950s and I _think_ it has been the subject of a question in this thread.

(b) The connection with these matches can be worked out from the profiles of the players in the two matches.

-------

I am getting a bit desperate

Let me rephrase (b) a bit : If you can notice something slightly unusual about the entries in both scorecards, follow them up.

ah bit of a long shot here but is it going through an innings without the keeper being involved in a dismissal

In the first match Brook conceded 100 runs less in the second innings (4-45) than in the first (4-145) Although I doubt this is the answer.

A player died during each match and is down as absent hurt on the scorecards. Both were fielding first and didn't bat, so were they killed on the field?

Yeah it is a player dying during the days of the match. Maurice Nichol & Charlie Bull.
Indie2, Bryce You are both geniuses (or genii  ), you cracked it !! Tapioca can confirm the answer as correct. :clapping:

And this is the score card of the game in Pakistan where the third player (abdul Aziz) died during a FC cricket match.

Notes
--> Abdul Aziz retired hurt in the Karachi first innings having scored 0 (team score 270/7) (hit in the chest from ball from Dildar Awan and collapsed and died on the way to hospital)

In all honesty, Bryce or Indie2 (whoever visits the thread first) , I think one of you guys deserve to ask the next question.(Go ahead and ask next question , Tapioca can confirm it in due course) :)

Well done, particularly to Indie2. One of you can ask the next one

These are the three instances of a player dying during the course of a match. Maurice Nichol died in his sleep during the night between the second and third day. Bull died in a car crash on the rest day (Sunday) of the other match.

There was an incident from 1870 when George Summers died after being hit on the head while batting, but he died a few days after the match.

I think he appears to be a mysterious newcomer, who made it straight into the Cricket trivia thread for his first post 8-) , to hit the Jack pot.

Bryce, I think you should go ahead and ask the next question, since you deserve some credit for picking the two individuals out (Charlie Bull, Nichol).

Who is the only player on record to have bowled a delivery using an apple in First Class Cricket ?

International Regular
well done, that was actually for my home state northern districts.

haha i'll be greedy and take it again then.....

Who is the only player on record in One-Day Internationals to have:

*Been bowled by a wide ?
*Bowled someone with a wide ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry this question is wrong, i have just noticed that the umpire called it a wide then noticed the bail was dislodged then asked the third umpire if he was bowled and the ball was no longer deemed a wide.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

here is another question anyway.....

Which First-Class match was this note attached to:

On the third day, play was delayed for 20 minutes by a mad dog on the field.

Eyes not spreadsheets
It nearly happened this summer didn't it?

Giles clipped Leg Stump, the bails didn't fall, and the umpire signalled wide.

it was actually involving travis friend bowling yuvraj singh around his legs in the 2000-01 coca-cola cup(IND,SL,ZIM) daryl harper didn't realise he had bowled him and called it a wide, but thats not the question anymore.....
