Off the mark with a boundary?
Yes, we got there eventually (with a little help :p) !!!

Hilditch, Wood, Border, Hughes, Yallop, Whatmore, and Wright all opened their accounts with a boundary.

Your turn now Jamee :D

OK.

What do Alan Border, Graham Gooch, Sachin Tendulkar, Stephen Fleming, Javed Miandad, Jacques Kallis, Sanath Jayasuria, Brian Lara, Andy Flower and Habibul Bashar have in common, that is unique to the group?

Is it something that happened on the cricket field ?

If yes, was it an international game?

If yes, is it something that goes into the record books as a statistic?

Ok. This should be easy.

What was special about this match?
Mark Waugh who could have debut forr the Australians in that series, played for the opposition - Essex.

He also top scored for Essex in both innings.

Or, alternatively, Essex had three players on its team who between them ended up scoring over 22000 test runs with 54 boundaries (Gooch, Mark Waugh and Hussain)

OR that... Australia's three all time top test rungetters (Border, Steve Waugh, Mark Waugh) as well as Englands all time highest run getter (Gooch) were all playing in the game.

(although I suspect this must have happened in a test later after mark had made his debut - so maybe it was the only game in which such topp run getters in tests (add Hussain) were playing which wasnt a test match ??

Just for the record these six players between them scored a STAGGERING...
- 50 thousand PLUS test runs
- 134 test centuries
- 271 test fifties
- played 773 test matches (only Hussain with 96 missing the 100 mark) Healy played another 119 !

WOW !!

Add to that their limited over runs and WOW again !!

And some of the games greatest catchers and stumper are in that game.

By the way, this match had a total of 8 international captains (after adding Healy) who between them led in 627 international games winning 321 of them.

This could be a record too :D

These teame also had individual record holders whose records (most) still stand

- Border : Highest test runs
- Border : Most test catches by a non-keeper
- Border : Highest number of tests as a captain in the world
- S Waugh : Highest number of tests played
- Hussain : Highest tests captained by an Englishman
- Healy : Most test dismissals (as well as most test catches)
- Healy : Most tests played as a wicket keeper (Stewart is thus excluded)
- Healy : Most dismissals in a series etc etc

One can go on and on.

and still be wrong :p

That's a lot of running between the wickets, how did Gooch manage to play on till nearly 40?! ;)
