A player is dismissed for a pair, which produced the following converstaion.

Menzies: 'that's a terrible thing to happen to a young cricketer, Warwick, how can you account for it?'

Armstrong: 'Can't bat'

Name the player they are discussing?
Scott Muller?

I hope this isn't too obscure.

He was an English captain who once lead them to an Ashes win (England used to, in those days). The Punch celebrated that occasion by publishing a poem which went :

Then wrote the queen of England
Whose hand is blessed by God
I must do something handsome
For ___ ____ ____ ____.

A prominent author used the four missing words as the title of his critically acclaimed biography of the captain which was published many years after his death. What are missing words/ book title ?

A biography of AE Stoddart. Punch wrote it on the occasion of the win in 1894-5

All yours, Arch.
Thanks Tapi, off to bed now, so sorry if you have a guess soon

Q Which Cricketer threw his copy of 'Bodyline The Novel' in the bin after reading it.

a clue: he was not happy with the love life the fictional 'him' had in the book.

Left to right :

Percy Fender, King of England, Maurice Tate, Patsy Hendren, Frank Woolley

Fender scorer of the fastest first class hundred (in time) in 35 minutes for Surrey against Northampton 1920

Tate
got Herbie Taylor off the first bal he bowled in test cricket as he and Gilligan bowled SAfrica out for 30 runs in 1924 in under 13 overs.

Woolley scored 58,959 (second only to Hobbs) runs with 145 centuries (the only non keeper fielder with over 1000 catches)

Hendren scored 57611 runs with 170 centuries (second only to Hobbs) and 759catches (might be second only to Woolley)
