Getting All eleven batsmen out without any other player involvement (ie all by himself)? (bowled or LBW) probably not because Magee who was the only one caught was claimed by another bowler in the second innings.

Try again -

Getting all bar one batsmen out without any assistance from any other players (ie bowled or LBW- except Magee that is - who was caught !! :) )

Sorry for the delay chaps, I've been resting in the arms of Morpheus!

SJS & James90 are there between them. It was an 11 a side match, so of course impossible to actually take 11 wickets, but he did clean bowl all 11 batters; GA Morrow, the not out batsman, was bowled with a no-ball! My Source reference is "The Fast Men" by David Frith, published 1982.

So it's over to either of you. First come, first served! :D

The cricket Archive scorecard shows three batsmen (Magee, Napper and Lynch) as being not bowled !!

Magee was caught in the first innings(off King) and bowled by another bowler in the second innings. Napper and Lynch were LBW (to King) in the first innings and dismissed by another bowler in the second innings !! So slight discrepancy between Cricket archive scorecard and David Firth !! :) :)

When was the first match at Lords, that was a one day affair, between Australia and MCC played ??

This is a tricky one.

There is famous match in 1878 when Spofforth and Boyle bowled England out for 33 and 19. IIRC, it is the shortest fc match in history.

Which West Indian began his short test career in 1980s, hooking the third ball he faced (from IT Botham) for six ?

OKAY Guys. This has gone on to long.

F R Brown captain of MCC team down under 1950-51.

An inspired choice by selectors beset with a very bad downward phase in Englisg cricket. Brown who had debuted 20 years earlier may have not appeared a brilliant choice at 39 but through the force of his captaince he had galvanised Northamptonshire into a voigour they hadnt enjoyed for years.

He had, as AA Thomson puts it, " ..an arrogance, which was most appealing to those who have been underdogs for so long. Here was someone who, every swing of his bat and every knot in his silk handkerchief was rejecting underdog status out of hand"

England lost the series 4-1-not a great record surely but "Brown led his men in a spirit that made a forelorn hope look good, clean fun; batted bravely, bowled forcefully with a painful shoulder and gave life to one of cricket's most treasured legends; that of the Sydney barrow boy who enriched his vegetables with the slogan, 'Fine lettuces, hearts like Freddie Brown!'"

Anyone else can take the next question. First come first ask :)
