And 170 international centuries with 23000 test runs @ 65 (not to mention the 2 ODI WC titles and 3 triple centuries in tests)? We're going to look back at this thread and laugh at the naievity when Tendulkar completes 30 years in International cricket.
I don't think he'll play ODIs beyond the next WC, though. He's already cutting back on it (not a single ODI since the 200* in Feb! (?)). I honestly think he'll continue playing Test cricket into his 40's. He's hungry and obviously fit enough. He hasn't lost his eye ala Viv, and his technique actually seems to be getting more and more watertight by the game. And 170 international centuries with 20000 test runs @ 65 (not to mention the 2 ODI WC titles and 3 triple centuries)?
Indeed.. And fixing of all kinds is the mother of all evil in cricket, ITBT..fixed
Thats a bit too much I think..24 hundreds is not a joke..Would 100 career First Class hundreds perhaps be on his "to do" list, given that no other Indian batsman has ever achieved such a feat?
He's on 76 just now...
well saidDont think SRT needs 300 to prove ne thing tbh He's already convinced me that he's arguably the best of his generation and a near sure in for ne all time XI
...players with 55ish career strike rate don't have 55ish strike rates when they score triple centuries...you don't get 300's with a 55-ish strike rate
True, but he's been fairly consistent with it for quite a few years now....players with 55ish career strike rate don't have 55ish strike rates when they score triple centuries...
...just like players with 85 career strike rate in ODIs don't have the same strike rate when they score ODI double centuries...
Just another occasion where the words 'benchmark' and 'greatness' have been used in the same sentence.
There is a reason why you have 00 stuck to your name.Just another occasion where the words 'benchmark' and 'greatness' have been used in the same sentence.
No biggie.
Like in this current test match?Tendulkar won't be getting any 300's, you don't get 300's with a 55-ish strike rate, unless of course it's a completely flat wicket and the captain has given you license to bat as long as you want knowing he has no chance of getting a result.
and more over , if ata ll he gets decent support fromt he other end, he might not be in the same mood of defence once the lead is around 150+, he might as well go for some big shotsLike in this current test match?
Seriously, if India want to win this test match, they need to get a sizable lead, and if by some miracle, the tail manages to stay with Tendulkar, then he actually has a decent chance of getting 300 today.

Lol, Sachin doesn't need a 300 or a 400 to prove anything.
Gayle has a 300. It's not exactly the benchmark of greatness.
