Okay, before I deal with the fact that this post is a complete slagging off of another player, have you not noticed that I'm CW Black captain now, and am arguing the length of these bans for the sake of my club as a whole, not because these guys are part of my "CW Clique" which everyone seems to think. My stance is purely towards the benefit of the club, and overall, the competition. The bans are overly long and because they don't really affect you, you're saying that we should all "get over it" with no appeal process. This isn't the Soviet Union, you know.

Anywho, this Demeza post and some of the following posts warrant at least a warning, IMO.

This is hardly trivial in the eyes of CW Black. You may have not lost two of the essential parts of your squad at Blue, but if you had, it wouldn't be so trivial to you. Poor form, I expected more overall than this from you.

Actually we "CW Blue" have lost one of main players in Andy Cloete over this whole annoying 'thing'. Yet, it is still trivial to me.

The bannings were this long because of the "straw breaking camel's back" effect. We've had short bans and they've really had little discernible effects on the general conduct in the forum; yes, it's harsh, and it's supposed to be harsh because we don't want people going around creating an atmosphere where people retire because they're frozen out. That's 11-year-old schoolyard stuff. This is not a battle worth fighting for "freedom of expression"; with that freedom comes a responsibility, which has been sadly lacking over the past couple of seasons.

There's nothing wrong with taking prior offences into account. In fact, that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do. That doesn't mean that these absurdly long bans are the correct way to go, though, especially when there's no clear incident (other than Hoy retiring) which can be seen as the "final straw". It'd be appropriate to give Blackman a heavy ban (say 5-10 games) for the Butler issue, and I'm not exactly sure what Borcich did, but a similar ban may be warranted in his case. I do think what he did should be explained though, as nobody, including him, seems to have any idea exactly what the ban is for, other than some sort of generic case of "poor behaviour".

Having said all that, this sort of massive punishment as some sort of warning is uncalled for, and is equivalent to treating dandruff by decapitation.

Except I've openly admitted, accepted and attempted to reform this poor behaviour (which has obviously been somewhat successful) whereas you've decided to come in here and throw insults and accusations around here, with little or no foundation. That said, I don't have a leg to stand on to try and take any moral high ground, but at least I'm using restraint and rationale here. You've "unleashed the demon", so to speak, and in the eyes of others it's surely not doing you any favours.

Right, I'm going to take this post with a grain of salt, to be honest. But for all the coaches that aren't really used and lifelike off-season tours and un-neccesary club cricket allocations to make it more realistic, there should be some realistc discretion shown and some realistic avenues of appeal. Regardless of whether you care about what country this is, you can hardly disagree about that.

I never said that they didn't warrant a reply, I said it's shameful that you're using some obviously sarcastic remarks to justify your disgraceful actions so far in this thread.

Yes, you lost a player. All clubs have, I think. But the suspensions have no effect on Andy moving, he did that before they were made public and before he had any knowledge of them.

It doesn't matter what you think of it, you're obviously going to be biased in a situation that directly involves you, it matters what the powers that be think, which you obviously already believe in. I personally hope you cop a suspension for this, and I'd hope that there'd be a proper avenue of appeal for you. If you don't, then so be it. That's life, eh?

Agree with the bans. They were jerks before, then they got banned for small periods, then still continued to be idiots, caused alot of anger amongst a lot of players throughout the system and they thoroughly deserve the bans IMO.

First things first, people need to cool off. You guys are getting into pretty intense debate over this stuff and arguing while hot-headed will never do you any favours. We all must be careful with our words to other members, and given the amount of complaints I received and also noticed around the forums from the players about the behaviour of certain individuals, I'm pleased to see that the CWBCC has responded to the raising of the issue to their level.

There was indeed a very lengthy discussion regarding this, exploring various avenues, and I'm happy with the way that the CWBCC have consulted myself and the captains in-depth.

If anyone has any issues they would like to raise, email myself at loony_bob@yahoo.com and I will be happy to discuss it with the players as a whole.
