Best Players of Spin

You forgot Salim Malik. The first guy who neutralised Warne.
He was good. There were few other batters who were excellent against spin, but sitting ducks against pace. Kumar Dharmasena was one of them, superb against spin (a brilliant defensive player of spin), but was a tail ender against pace.

90s Indians, and 80s Pakistanis were the best against spin.

Miandad, Imran, Qasim, and few others ended Indian spin quartet's careers.
In the same period, Gavaskar used to call out the Qadir of the hand and play it.

You rarely see that amounts of disdain, even with Lara.
Bull. Lara ended Hirwani's career b4 it could get anywhere. You won't see it in any test score card but lara absolutely murdered him in a fc warm up during India's 1990 tour. Lara ended Kaneira's career and pretty much caused Warne to be dropped for the only time in his career. And man handled Murali home and away. Oh but here comes the "Raju" bs, which is like saying Sachin sucks vs pace because Cronje owned him in one series.

Last but not least, Alvin Kallicharan is as good as player of spin as anyone you mentioned fwiw.

However averages 33 in India. BS Raju and another hack called Kumble made his life difficult.

Hirwani never was a ATG spinner. Lumping him with Chandra and Bedi is clutching straws.

Bro lara played one series in India, let it go. And I mentioned raju because any time anyone mentions lara as one of best players of spin, you bring up this raju nonsense. And in subsequent series vs India, it was their seamers that really troubled lara (weirdly enough).

Lara has a weak record against and in India
vs India : Avg of 34 in 17 Tests
In India : Avg of 33 in 3 Tests
Yeah true but having literally watched all those series, again it was their seamers who got him out, weirdly enough. As an example, in 1997, lara got out to India's spinners kumble and Joshi as those games were far gone draws and he was trying to entertain.

In the series in 2002, he got out once to spin, bear in mind, this was also one of his first series after messing up his right arm in SL, he wasnt anywhere near 100%.

2006, got out twice to Kumble in 8 innings.

So yeah Lara struggled against India which imo, was more mental than anything else because he hardly got dismissed by their spinners. Imo he had very issues with them but struggled vs their non threatening seamers.

I watched those series and Kumble especially just seemed quite awkward for Lara to face. I wouldn't say he was weak against them but certainly didn't dominate them.

I honestly don’t remember much about Lara against us, maybe because he didn’t do much against us. He was comfortable against the two spin legends Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan and looked like he was completely in control against those two.
