Battle of the Test Innings

Tough one. Toss of a coin really. I think I'm inclined to go for Hanif Mohammad simply because it's probably the best rearguard knock ever. Amazingly brave innings from Deano tho.

Hanif.

Any kid who wants to follow cricket in Pakistan one of the first things he is told about is "that" innings by Hanif Mohammed.

Deserves more votes for what, from all accounts, sounds like a hell of a knock.

Jones. The way he tells it, he was pronounced clinically dead before he came out to bat and by the time he was on 100 the funeral parade had already started.

All right, Hanif off to the next round 10-5.

Here are the top eight innings of all time, as voted on by you (in no particular order):

Ian Botham 149* v Australia, 1981
Brian Lara 153* v Australia, 1999
Hanif Mohammad 337 v West Indies, 1957
Charles Bannerman 165 v England, 1877
Don Bradman 334 v England, 1930
VVS Laxman 281 v Australia, 2001
Graham Gooch 154* v West Indies, 1991
Stan McCabe 187* v England, 1932

This is going to get hard folks. All the seedings are random, and needless to say that we'd all sell our mothers if we could go back and watch these innings live and in person.

Our first matchup is:

Charles Bannerman 165 v England, 1877

vs.

Don Bradman 334 v England, 1930

Getting really hard now, which is as it should be I suppose. I think I'll go for Sir Donald Bradman tho, based on the speed he reached his triple ton in & the quality of the attack he was facing.
