No disgrace to Botham to be bracketted with this lot :-

Stan McCabe
Hanif Mohammad
Graham Gooch
Brian Lara
VVS Laxman

And we are told he couldn't bat or something to that effect :)

Quite possibly the first time I've voted against any of Gooch's innings LOL

This is probably the toughest choice so far. Laxman's innings was the innings that defeated Australia for the first time in 16 tests. A far from shabby attack of McGrath-Gillespie-Kasprowicz-Warne, a huge amount of runs (and a 59 in the first innings) after following on, and a victory for his team. McCabe's innings, on the other hand, was during Bodyline, and no other Australian passed 50, whilst Laxman did have Dravid at the other end. Very hard decision, but I guess it's Laxman in the end, won't be surprised to see it make the final. Bit harsh on McCabe, though.
