Shoaib had legend potential but it wasn't maximised for various reasons. Vaas achieved the best of his capabilities and has been serving his team capably for years.

Vaas.

Top photo of Vaas. The goatee, the eyes, the action, what a man

Still Shoaib for me. Loved him, hate to see his int'l career end in such a crap manner but I guess he made his own bed. But when you think about the destruction he's caused teams (vs. Ind in 99, Aus back in 2002 and then Eng last year) I can't go past him. One of my favourite players to watch ever.

Shoaib, with warts and all. Purely as a cricketer, he was one destructive bowler. Too bad his personality ruined a potentially legendary career.

Oooh, topical! And a pretty close call.

Vaas is an SL legend - a bowler who made the most of his potential...which wasn't all that amazing, if you're going to be brutally honest.

Shoaib, on the other hand, had massive potential, but never fulfilled it consistently. I've got to question how far back the systematic use of certain substances goes.

If you'd asked me yesterday, I'd probably have voted Shoaib.

Today, Vaas.
