Battle of the Subcontinent

Jimmy Amarnath. If I had to pick one subcontinent batsmen to face best fast bowlers in the world, It would be him.

Mahindinho

State Vice-Captain
Jayasuriya

In terms of Test prowess it's pretty close. If anything, Armanath might shade it.

However, Jayasuriya played a large part in shaping the one-day game into what it is today. 12 years ago, 200 would have been considered a testing target for 50 overs.

That, in conjunction with his lasting success as a Test opener, tips the balance just far enough.

Is this Battle purely for Tests? Ive not seen anything making it exclusively Tests but only Test stats are quoted.

If so Amarnath

If it is all international cricket. Jayasurya. True OD revolutionary.

I based my vote for Jayasurya based on international cricket. If it's only supposed to be for Tests, then Amarnath for me as well.

Err...which is it? It's 'battle of the subcontinent', so vote with whatever criteria you prefer. Some people may rate ODI's highly and vote based on that, whereas others might ignore the ODI stats. It's upto you. I only quote Test stats because, well, I don't really feel like retyping the entire cricinfo page, which you can get to by clicking on it anyway ;). And the fact that I don't really put much stock into ODI stats.

Anyway, pick one :D

PS. Goughy, you changed your icon? Didn't recognize you. I associate people with their icons, and not the names heh.

Sanath Jayasuriya

Armanath better batsmen in tests, which may make me snobbishly go for him, but Sanath has taking nearly 100 wickets in proper cricket, and its indisputable how the World Cup was a defining moment in Sri Lankan cricket.
