Hmmm, still cant see what Gough did wrong.
He is effectively an independant contractor and decided to take another job rather than the one England offered. He made a good decision profile-wise and for his after cricket career. Hardly a silly choice. If I was in his position and brave enough to dance on TV, I could well have done the same. National cricket boards dont own their players. Also, didnt the dance thing come up after the decided not to go to Pakistan?

I guess it must be Malik. The involvement with bookies was a silly choice.
I suppose it'd be alright if Freddy pulled out of the Ashes to act in a play as well? Or host a new TV show?

I cant see what Malik did wrong?

He was just trying to make money on the side. So many players, particularly those on the eastern side of Malik's country make money on the side by working for shampoo makers, cola makers, razor makers etc. Malik was making a very small fraction of that by working for 'book' makers. Whats wrong ?

Gough wasn't nincompoopery, he knew full well that he'd get more exposure from a prime-time Saturday night TV show than an England ODI and he was probably right.

I'd have to go for Salim Malik.

He was right, but it doesn't make it right. There's more to life than being right. Am I right?

And if he wants to spend time with his family why did he become a cricketer? It's his job ffs, "soz can't come to work today cos I want to take Jeremy to the zoo". Balls. Many people would give their right arm for an England tour.
And at times cricket can be a ****** job (whether people would give their right arm or not). Also he is not employed by England and is not taking days off as you mention in your post. He is paid on a per tour / per game basis and he is turning down a work opportunity and that income. He is not an employee taking time of for a bogus reason. He is his own boss.

I wouldnt like it, but I would not criticise him. He must do what he thinks is best for himself and his family. They are his first responsibility, not me you, or anyone else.

Malik.

If Goughy wants to dance, then let him. His best days as a bowler are long gone and the ECB has appeared to be ready to say goodbye. I think the ECB has acted a bit like a pratt who dumps his girlfriend for the new flashy girl(s) in the neighbourhood - then when the bottom fell out of their brave new world has shown up on the old girlfriend's door step at 2am, drunk and looking for a booty call. Gough is entitled to start making arrangements to help him in his post-cricket life.

Malik leads Gough 5-4 at this stage.

Surprisingly there is 'indirectly' a vote 'FOR' Mr Malcolm 'CEO' Speed

What's Speed supposed to have done wrong anyway? Not horsewhipped Hair down the main street of Dubai? Or banned Inzi straightaway as a cheat?

Bit of a surprising result here, to me - could be the case that there's nothing specific cited for Speed that has resulted in him getting no votes.

I don't think Malik's crimes go down to nincompoopery so much as just being a greedy, corrupt SOB.

I might have said Goughy, if he ever expected to play for England again and didn't - but given that he did, that just makes him look smart, not idiotic. Dunno, tough call, that one, in today's professional era where it appears that players still have all the obligations and duty and coaches/selectors have none.

So I guess I'll just vote for Malcolm Speed - if we want to shoot for a singular, clear reason, then his ludicrous trip to Zimbabwe (and following reassurances) during the player strike easily qualifies.
