Battle of the Nincompoops

Steulen

International Regular
Tough one, but I'll go for Emburey. It's societal nincompoopery rather than pure cricketing nincompoopery, so it should make him a worse nincompoop.

Gavaskar....

a notable ommission could be Mark Vermeulen for his ability to keep his cool...

School Boy/Girl Captain
Gavaskar easily.

Emburey was atleast trying to make a living.
Gavaskar was just stroking his ego and costing his teammates a fair game.

Slow Love™

International Captain
I guess nincompoopery can cast a fairly wide net. My recall of McGrath's comment was that it was more along the lines of what the side was aiming for, rather than an arrogant prediction, which is probably why nobody's voted for him so far.

I guess you could say that Emburey was being a bit stupid, though I would probably come up with more pointed criticisms than sheer idiocy.

Which has to leave Sunny Gavaskar, who decided that chasing a 300+ total was pointless, so he might as well bore the crap out of the crowd and get some batting practice in.

Sunil Gavaskar.

International Coach
Gavaskar, it has to be. It's probably one of the more famous ODI innings and some people here might remember him for that more than his wonderful career record.

Utter idiocy. :D

I'll go with Embers. An honourable mention to the ECB (or may've been TCCB at the time) for selecting him for the test XI so quickly after his second ban was lifted. Showed other twirlers what putting their country before their pockets meant to the powers that be....
