Haha, fine, revive this thread. :D

I`m really unsure where to go from here, as simulated cricket seems a farce. Any ideas?

Whatever it takes!!!
simply let the selectors pick a 15 or so for tests and ODIs for the upcoming series and allow the other CW members give marks on how good their selections are, given the conditions, the pitches, the opposition, who is likely to do well in the CW members' opinion etc...

Could work for the major nations, but with countries like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe fewer people will be able to judge the sides as they will have less knowledge of what players could be picked (eg domestic form)

yeah, that is a problem.... But maybe in those instances, the CW members who have watched the match ALONE can contribute. Plus, most of the guys here would have watched most of the current Bang players. Zim aren't playing anymore. I was talking mainly about tests, BTW.

But if the Bangladesh board selects some obscure batsman who's just smashed three consecutive hundreds or something in domestic cricket, I daresay no-one will have seen him play.

I really dont see how that would work. We are selecting the best judges of players from each country that are members here, and then asking the less qualified and knowledgable on these specific players to mark the selectors on their selections? Seems completely backwards if you ask me...

I think the best option would just be to pick the mock teams for each tour and leave it at that. No simulations, no marking - we could just discuss the teams at the end, give reasons for selections etc etc.

Probably the best idea yet... pick a team before each ODI and Test?

Sounds tip-top to me.

Now OFFICIALLY. Please vote for up to three people per country who you would like as selector. This person does not have to be from that country, but should be fair, just and knowledgable about the side. You do not have to use up all three options or vote for every country, but there is a maximum of three. Three shall be the number, and the number shall be three. Five is right out.

Go.

Everyone was happy to give suggestions until push came to shove and we had to do it officially!

Zimbabwe (providing they actually end up playing) - Chubb

Ill have a proper think about the other nations later on. As for Zimbabwe though, I have a funny feeling we wont even reach our 3-man panel... are there even three regular-posting Zimbabwean supporters here?
