Sobers. Probably the second greatest batsman of all time, and wasn't too shabby with the ball or in the field either.

Sobers clearly.

A lot of champion WI players are going out due to their fellow country men it seems. :p

Might as well vote for the ultimate matchup and forget the rest of the filler.
Its gonna come down to Bradman vs Sobers and Sobers gets my vote.

I think the filler is the fun bit here. There's a lot more interest for me in Trueman v Lillee than there is in Bradman v Gavaskar.

Sobers for me, arguably the second best cricketer in history.. :p
Sobers gets my vote, and he will get my vote in the final. An allrounder of his class beats any specialist batsman, including Bradman.

Argh. Painful to vote against one of the very best post-WWII bowlers, but Sobers it is.

16-3 to Sobers

ROUND TWO ----- ----- BATTLE FOUR

KR Miller (Australia) (RHB, RF)

MD Marshall (West Indies) (RHB, RFM)

For any confused ManUre fans, this is Kenny Miller, who was part of the team who slayed you 1-0

Whoops - had the window open too long. Luckily the vote wasn't crucial. :)

For this one, I'm gonna go for Keith Miller. One of the heroes of the game, and a great all-rounder. Although my recollection is that he was one of those crabby old buggers that always complained that today's cricketers weren't as good as they were in the good old days. Oh, well. He's probably right about the Australian all-rounders, anyway.

I'm going to break with my all-rounder-favouring tradition and go with Marshall on this one. Anyone with the nickname "Whispering Death" must have been pretty damn good. Miller was a true great, though.

He was - pity he's not in this matchup though. :)

Wasn't that Michael Holding?

2 true greats, both sadly pased away, really difficult decision. Marshall just gets it for me, can't put my finger on quite why though.
