Battle of the Cricketers

Slow Love™

International Captain
I know little of this Ames guy other than his record, which is an excellent one for a keeper/batsman.

But Steve Waugh is my favorite player of all time, which makes this very easy. I think his talent is underrated by those who compare him with the silky inconsistency of his brother. Actually, Steve was extremely talented, both with bat and ball. His bowling was obviously curtailed by his chronic groin injury, but his own high expectations of himself and a commitment to doing the best for the team meant that he limited his shot-range drastically at a certain point in his career. Previous to that, he was quite the strokeplayer; but beyond this, he also had extremely fast reflexes and a great eye. And he had a mental strength and ability to concentrate that very few international players (ever) could match.

He was a very capable leader as well, who engendered respect from his own players and his opposition, even if he struggled to pull back and acknowledge the value of defensive tactics at times.

Anyhow, Steve Waugh

Hmmm, i'm going to give the sympathy vote to Big bird Joel Garner. Probably the scariest bowler i've ever seen. That yorker was pretty sweet too. :D
