Battle of the Cricketers

Slow Love™

International Captain
Hobbs is obviously a legend of the game - a run-making machine who by all accounts achieved mastery on all kinds of surfaces and who possessed amazing reflexes.

Gower was pretty to watch, although in the tail end of his career, he seemed to me to be dismissed a bit too often by tickling balls around the corner to a specifically placed leg slip. A competent batsman, he always appeared a little like Little Lord Fauntleroy all grown-up to me, and I wondered if his hands had ever experienced hard work, apart from holding a bat or a glass of champagne, or fondling a woman.

Anyhow, Jack Hobbs, comfortably.

I WISH TO PROTEST...JAMEE 999 AND I KNOW WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TYPE IN BOLD BUT...WHAT IS THIS BELOW???? DK LILLEE FROM WHICH COUNTRY? HOW COULD YOU HAHAHA Maybe its another DK lillee hahahaa
MD Marshall (West Indies) (RHB, RFM)
Waqar Younis (Pakistan) (RHB, RF)
Imran Khan (Pakistan) (RHB, RF)
DK Lillee (New Zealand) (RHB, RF)
Right first, cheers for pointing out my error.

Secondly, I'm no cricketing expert, I probably knew that Lillee was from Australia, but more likely, I got him mixed up with Hadlee (see the lee on the end of their names).

Third, let's have a look at Lillee's career, his last test was on the 6th January 1984. I was born on the 16th November 1992

Fourth, Hutton knocked him out!

Carry on voting.

(And don't post in capitals, it's considered shouting on the internet, AND IS VERY RUDE!)

Note: Irony

Waugh - even if he had no talent whatsoever, his attitude would still make him the perfect sportsman. An example for every cricketer that's ever been born without the natural talent of a Tendulkar or a Richards.

SR Waugh for me too. Huge fan of the bloke generally. Supreme competitor, but shows an admirable sense of perspective with cricket too. Underrated captain too, I couldn't see him setting some of the fields Punter did during The Ashes.

Underrated? I always thought he was regarded as one of the best - certainly by me, anyway!

I think most Aussies seem to regard him as inferior to Taylor, which he probably was, but I think he was closer to Tubs than Punter is to him.

Well there's no shame in being inferior to Tubs, I guess. All I know is every time I saw Waugh captain (i.e. Ashes 1997 - hazy memory - and Ashes 2001) his captaincy was spot-on. Not that I knew that in 1997 of course, being ten years old. :D
