Marsh - Arguably Australia's best ever at catching them from behind, handy batsman as well!!

Note, was beavo chosen as a batsman who could bowl, or a bowler who could bat for tests ;) Just reading those stats would stump those who knew nothing about him

I really, really want to vote for Bevan. Going so far as to bring his work at Yorkshire into the equation. He was one of the best batsmen I have ever seen and I have no doubt he was capable of being very successful in Test cricket.

However, I cant do it. Marsh

OK, we have one of the three top batsmen in the history of ODI cricket (Viv-Sachin being the other two).

So, the question is, how much value do you put in ODI cricket and its records?

Not very much. Marsh, it is.

Bevan was one of those players who looked like he had the equipment to be a success in tests, but never quite made the breakthrough. His record isn't quite as horrible as I remember it, Ramprakash averaged less & managed 50+ tests. Of course the Australian selectors were shuffling with a fuller deck than ours were at the time...

I don't dislike or undervalue ODIs, but I do consider tests the ultimate examination of a cricketer. For the length of his tenure with the Oz gauntlets alone I have to give it to old irongloves, Mr Marsh.

Bevan's test stats may not be the greatest but his ODI stats is legendary, Marsh is arguably Australia's greatest glovesman on the other hand, tight but i'll go Bevan just.

Pah, I try not to get involved in this Oz thread.Yet ODIs only have one reason to be ranked above beach cricket IMHO, no sand in painful crevasses.
