Armstrong, Slats had a very good lineup around him so he didn't have much pressure, and could play as aggresively as he did.

Slater was great to watch especially when he used his feet to the spinners. However, he could be considered a bit of a disappointment and ultimately flawed. He probably does not deserve regarded amongst the pantheon of Aussie greats.

EDIT- If I was biased the fact Slaters parents are from Yorkshire could swing it, but Im not :)

Armstrong - fat, probably liked his beer, etc, etc, a Hall of Famer extremely capable with bat and ball, and a real legend of the game. I've got a real soft spot for Slats, and his is surely a story of incredible potential, even if not completely fulfilled.

It's funny, I was going to say Slater showed a bit of a mental weakness in his game, but given that he was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I don't know how appropriate that is to say. In any case, his game frequently lacked thinking.
