noticed over the weekend that Cummins was being talked up as possibility for the first test on the back of him getting through 2 one day games without breaking down.

Is there really a chance he could be selected ?

The Cummins bandwagon is rolling again.

Brad Haddin was adamant that Cummins should be in contention for Brisbane if he came through the Chappell-Hadlee series fit and in form.

"If he gets through these three one-dayers ... traditionally these day-night games [Tests] haven't been going five days and the quick bowlers might only have to bowl 16 overs in a day," Haddin said. "If you use him right in a Test match, he only has to bowl four-over spells."

I think it would be a mistake to leave out Renshaw. After the Shield round next week, he doesn't have another game of substance until Shield resumes in February next year as he is understandably not in any of the BBL squads. This means he'll have played just two shield games and one test for the summer through to February, by which point any benefit of him playing in Adelaide will have long been lost.

In fairness, the "in a day" qualifier is sort of important. 16-20 overs a day for a quick is pretty normal, though we'd probably need a five-man attack in that case.

We could drop a bat for Faulkner to get the extra bowler so that we could then have the luxury of Cummins bowling. That's a lot of tweaking to accommodate 1 bowler. It's a gamble you might take in the last test if your down a test but not in the 1st.

Tbf Forkers probably offers the same ability to score a ridiculously aggressive innings as Mad Dog. So not much of a loss for the batting to gain a pretty scary attack under lights.
