Hopefully. You were 100% right about Wade. I was expecting him to be a lot less **** than he's turned out to be these last 4 Tests. With our top 5 now pretty settled, Cartright looking ok at 6 and the option of SMarsh hopping in there if needed, surely we can now select the best keeper we have who can average at least 25-30?
Step up, Mitchell MarshCartwright's longevity in the side will depend on other players as much as himself.
Right now they're prioritising batting over bowling for their number 6, but if seamers start breaking down and everyone else is scoring runs?
What Cartwright needs to grow is a pair that the ***en number 6 needs, my god man . Its been awhile ay, since the number 6 had any testes to speak of, but cartWRONG. It s all right. Because I mean, say this. He has nothing, but a neckbeard, on his neck. Not a p;roper foliage of grass on his face. But only on the neck. LOW TESTHopefully with our top 5 settled Cartwright gains a W from Red Hill.

so, you want paul collingwood? that sort of player?Yeh, but if he can bowl 5-10 economical overs a day in the subcontinent it'd be handy. And a small step above Ponting is a pretty handy bowler fwiw.
What we want ideally is someone who can average 40ish with the bat at #6 and be able to bowl up to ten tidy overs a day.
Cartwright looked assured with the bat today. Think we are making some solid selections with Rod Marsh gone.

Collingwood would be ok. If Cartright could average 40 with the bat at #6 and bowl some economic overs, that'd be ok. He only needs to be able to bowl 5-10, maybe 15 decent overs a day to be a real benefit. I loved Collingwood but he didn't take a big bowling load in tests really.so, you want paul collingwood? that sort of player?
This is actually really true now. I am a fan of Marsh but I was advocating his dropping on the basis of his output with the bat. And Nevill was (wrongly) dropped because it was perceived Wade was a better bat. I'm happy to stick with Cartwright now, but TBH this doesn't look too bad right now with our top 5 making enough runs, and with O'Keefe having a FC avg of 30:With a settled top 5, M Marsh would slot in nicely. The problem was that with an old Voges and an out of form Burns, we needed more runs from our number 6.
Particularly if we're playing two spinners Marsh would be a good pick. If he could raise his batting to average 32 instead of 27 he'd look a lot better.
If we play Neville and Marsh I'd actually prefer to see Neville come in ahead of Marsh.
