Australian Test Selection 2016/2017

Look, we've seen once today what a Zimbabwean-born all-rounder who provides big hitz and military meds can do, so clearly we need to take a hint from our southern neighbours and pick Hilton Cartwright on principle.

1. David Warner
2. Matt Renshaw (#Hameed)
3. Usman Khawaja
4. Steve Smith *
5. Kurtis Patterson
6. Peter Handscomb +
7. Hilton Cartwright (#CdATG)
8. Joe Mennie
9. Mitchell Starc
10. Mitchell Swepson (#Chappell)
11. Josh Hazlewood

Lock it in. Hire me, James Sutherland.

Updated.

I dont think we should just throw kids in, regardless of what Neil Harvey reckons.

I think Handscomb, Patterson and Bancroft are probably the ones that are ready if required.

On another topic, good to see Matt Short get a 50 for the Vic XI against South Africa. Good young batsman.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised, Burns is absolutely unretainable at this point so if they throw Renshaw in, won't be the worst out of the rest of the openers going around.

I'll throw a bet down on this squad to be announced tomorrow
Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Patterson
Handscomb
Nevill
O'keefe
Starc
Hazlewood
Mennie

Henriques as 12th

I'll also pick Whiteman as a bolter knee-jerk selection thanks to his ton today.

If they actually go ahead and make 4 changes that must be some kind of record for a Modern Australian cricket team within a series

How many were made in one game in the ashes that Cook got his runs in?

Only time I can remember a truckload of changes but it seemed more of a couple each game than 4 in one go.

not sure, but there have already been a few changes made from test 1 to 2, the Marshes both started test 1 for example

Just looked it up and 4 changes were made after Adelaide for Perth with Katich, North, Doherty and Bollinger dropped for Hughes, Smith, Johnson and Hilfenhaus

Is Voges OK? I feel bad about celebrating so much about his average coming down.

Here we go then : Bad news is that O'keefe's calf has flared up. Looks like Wade is a go-er.

Wade would be a dire pick. Send the team backwards. Back to needing get to create 13/14 chances an innings.
