 not suprised you've been discovered. Have any of the first cricketers said anything to you about it? I think I remember a Micheal Di Venuto with no profile picture commenting on Kane Richardson's status a while ago to.

Three senior team discards - allrounder Farveez Maharoof, fast bowler Isuru Udana and opening batsman Mahela Udawatte - have won a place in the Sri Lanka A team's one-month tour of Australia from June 10.

All three players have been picked for the one-day squad which will play three matches against Australia A. Maharoof has been out of the senior national team since playing an ODI against India in February 2009, while Udana's only international appearance was in the second edition of the World Twenty20 in England. Udawatte had a brief run with the limited-overs side, but has been out of favour since September. Middle-order batsman Chamara Kapugedera will captain the one-day side.

The selectors picked two different squads for the tour, one to play in the two four-day 'Tests' and one 3-day warm-up game against the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) and the other for the one-day matches. Thilina Kandamby who led Basnahira North to the final of the 4-day inter-provincial tournament will captain Sri Lanka 'A' in the longer format.

The visitors will also play a Twenty20 match against Australia A for which a separate team has not been picked, but will most probably comprise of players from the one-day squad.

'Test' squad: Thilina Kandamby (capt), Dimuth Karunaratne, Tharanga Paranavitana, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal, Kaushal Silva, Jeevan Mendis, Kosala Kulasekara, Nuwan Pradeep, Dinesh Dharshanapriya, Dammika Prasad, Chaminda Vidanapathirana, Sachitra Senanayake, Seekuge Prasanna and Nadeera Nawala.

COE pushing players to the Max DEC Bushrangers Glenn Maxwell, James Pattinson and Ryan Carters are just four weeks into their stint at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence and already they're feeling the benefits.

The Victorians are among 13 full-time AIS scholarship holders up in Brisbane (John Hastings is also part of the intake, but is currently recovering from off-season shoulder surgery), all of them getting specialised training and weight programs, helping them take their games to the next level.

A player's weekly schedule includes a combination of cricket skills training, game scenarios, strength and conditioning training, injury prevention strategies, nutrition, recovery, sport psychology and various sport science related activities, with player career and welfare courses also included.

But according to Maxwell, the hardest session is the regular Saturday morning strength and conditioning training that starts early and has ended with a few players losing their breakfast.

"It's been very full-on so far," Maxwell said. "A couple of blokes have been pushed to breaking point after the Saturday sessions - it definitely hasn't been easy the training - but that's one of the good things about this place, we're always being challenged and pushed to our limits.

"My body is holding up ok, not being the biggest bloke in the squad it makes it tough doing group strength activities, but I feel like I've made some good progress."

On top of all the strength and conditioning work, there is a different theme for each week with some specialist coaches and last week Shane Warne and Saqlain Mushtaq were among the guest coaches for ‘spin week'.

On the field, they've got the best coaches in the business looking after them, but off it the players are forced to handle all the household chores that some of them aren't used to.

"I'm rooming with Nick Maddison, a young left-handed batsman from NSW- he's been a good roommate so far," Maxwell said.

"We just help each other out with the dishes, the washing and making dinner - all the stuff we don't normally do at home!"

Maxwell, who played two Twenty20 matches and the Ford Ranger Cup final for the DEC Bushrangers this season, said the other Victorian boys are also going well.

"Patto is his usual loud self and seems to be enjoying it up here, I think he's looking forward to getting his body fully ready for a big season of state cricket in all forms," he said.

"Ryan Carters seems to be in his element - he looks to be one of the hardest working players in the gym and during practice.

"He rarely puts a foot wrong, and if he does make a mistake, he has a former Test captain in Greg Chappell to help him out so he seems to be enjoying the experience up here."

Even though they're a month into the program, the scholarship holders still plenty of work to do.

"We get a three day break starting May 29, which I think a lot of the guys will use to go home and see families, friends and girlfriends, but apart from that, and the break we have from 9am on Saturday until Monday morning, we are flat out until mid-August," Maxwell said.

"I'm really enjoying my time here, the general vibe up here is pretty good and during the week everyone is pretty upbeat and looking forward to experiencing the next activity that is planned for us."

Dom Thornely has retired from state cricket. Turned down a few offers from rival states.

Had a good career for NSW. A good, honest cricketer, despite what Mister **** has to say. Will always remember that 200 he slapped and surpassed Hooks' record for most 6's in an innings.

Gahhhhhhhhhh **** you Cricket Australia and your incompetency and hypocricy with your 'we take T20 seriously' bull**** whilst still giving the captaincy to a bloke who'd struggle to crack his state team in the format. Worst ****ing group of selectors.

Cue rash of dismissals caught at slip and point/shouldering arms to balls pitched on middle in Tests and ODI's as Clarke desperately tries to up his scoring rate followed by a public 'rediscovery' of his shot-less play which will happily coincide with Ponting giving up the ODI captaincy, Clarke taking it on and handing the T20 captaincy to the bloke who should have been the captain right from the start, Cam White, and making his decision to revert to nick-and-nudge again completely irrelevant.

Aus A bowling attack looks mean, has to be said.

Decent looking squads, I'm dissapointed that Clarke is still in the team and I think Paine is a better 2020 batsmen than Haddin so he should be in the squad but Paine should be the A keeper to.

A squads look pretty gun. Copeland should be there though for sure, don't know how Starc got in over him tbh. It was either going to be O'Brien or O'Keefe for the spinner/all rounder spot and O'Keefe got it. Haberfield made the one day squad aswell :).

Good 'A' team squad selections.

Am I missing something as to why Hastings did not get a call-up for either squad?

I like the A Team squads too. I didn't expect Drew to get a call up, he just seemed like an honest cricketer who was never going to reach higher honours, but good luck to him.
