State Level Test Matches, right. I've never heard of these, all I've heard of is the Pura Cup which is the old Sheffield Shield which is Australia's national First Class competition between the States. This is a FIRST CLASS competition, comprising of 4 day matches with all returns going towards a FIRST CLASS average of a player.

Test cricket is 5 days, comprises of INTERNATIONAL teams, the returns go towards both the FIRST CLASS average and the TEST average of the player.

i may hardly ever agree with rik but he is absolutley correct here.

if these players with fantastic records in county cricket are so great why are they not playing for england??? why did dawson play... he may have some potential locked away somewhere but he was clearly not ready to take on the Australian Batting Lineup. if these other spinners are so good, why did they not tour and play?
They're not great... but they're better than Katich - which was the issue!

If Katich batted like Jason Brown (that's very badly) he wouldnt be playing CC cricket never mind Tests!

That answers my question how?

You have a big go at English spinners, a lot of whom have far better records than Katich, but excuse Katich as he's yet to bowl in turning conditions.

Explain that to us...

I simply cant believe a debate was sustained over if you could have State Level Test Matches. Its rediculous! You cant, you flaming bafoon! Have you ever noticed that in other sports, international games of recognised coutries are called tests?? Cricket only differs becuase there are two forms of the game so some international games are not called tests as to separate the records.

I don't normally post the obvious but this is just stupid!

Anyway whoever said somethong about Giles being an allrounder as joke is not that far of the mark. In the recent tests between England and South Africa, he was classed as one on TV for some reason. Possibly becuase they couldnt believe that he was picked purely on his bowling....

And Katich is an allrounder, yes, but would be rubbish compared to some spinners in England. If he couldnt bat, he would be lucky to make club cricket.

Yes I know that. I did say as a joke (I may have left the "a" out for some reason). He said it to shoot down the Clarke arguement. I was just saying that he didnt really mean he was allrounder, but according to Sky Sports, he is.. and probably because they cant jusity him being in the team for his bowling alone. I wasnt trying to argue the fact that he was or wasnt an allrounder.

As probably the biggest Bears fan on here, I couldn't believe it until Rik explained.

He's a very good County player, but an interational AR, he ain't.

That said, I can easily see how he got a bat and a ball from C4,since he is in good nick with the bat ATM.
