well, quite a lot of drama unfolded in today's cup match against the colonels. i've played them 4 times before, 2 twice in the league in season 1, a friendly that same season and they knocked us out of the cup last season. they're into their second season in the state sheild. in those 4 games we have a grand total of 428 runs to show for it. needless to say, they've had the wood on us.

we lost the toss again, and were sent in to bat on our flat pitch. hamshaw was dismissed early, immediately fueling fears that we were about to be routed again. however duggan and waddell got us through to 138, when waddell went, and duggan followed soon after leaving us 152/3. lennon hung around with a string of partners despite being 195/5, we made it through to 300 all out after 48.2 overs. a quite marvellous effort. in fact, quality batsmen hamshaw was the lowest scorer on 1.

when they came into bat it was very much like a case of last week's cup victory. they made a solid beginning only for the asking rate to slowly creep up. wickets started to fall and in the 49th over holmes removed the final two batsmen with the colonels on 252.
