Yeah... I'd been looking at him for a few days, mainly cause of his batting which is no more than three nets away from popping. Not to worry though, I've another player lined up to get (he's not a captain, but he's a better bat).
You know what is really funny, i didn't actually need him as i got a 17 yo trainer yesterday, but with my lack of sleep i didn't notice so i bidded on him. Man thats so sweet though that he will be popping in three nets, cus then he will be ready for my match aginst the team coming first. The other 17yo trainer can keep after i train him a bit, so that will be good if we ever get injuries.

Haha you didn't realise he was close to respectable? With about 6 hours to go to the deadline, he was only at 6k. I then bid 75k before I went to school, hoping I'd get him, which I obviously didn't. But my new guy will be fine (albeit 200k more expensive)

Bought this guy for just over 750 k

Bobby Mcfadden - 20 yo, BT Rating=10,704
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, lively
A destructive player with abysmal leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: superb Concentration: feeble
Bowling: woeful Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: mediocre

Should i give him 2 batting + 1 fielding + 1 fitness?

I;m still a newbie i got no idea how far someone is from popping. Anyway looking at my estimated training program my batting line might look something like this by the end of the season;

1. strong
2. strong
3. proficient-strong
4. strong
5. strong
6. strong
7. respectable

I guess the mistake of buying two trainees might pay off, secondaries are likey to still be pretty poor but they will improve over time hopefully.

I wouldn't give them two batting, just give them one batting for a longer period, this way the batting skill doesn't get even more out of kilter with the concentration, plus you're not getting the usual wastage from the second primary net.

Well, going by what Scaly (I think) mentioned quite a while ago, which I wrote down on my Battrick excel file...

Primary Wage
Feeble 300
Mediocre 300-400
Competent 400-640
Respectable 640-1090
Proficient 1090-1700

It's fairly rough, but you can see that a competent batsman with a wage over 600 is going to be close to popping.

Thanks Andy for the tip

What do people think of this chap..Don't steal him but

Mark Pearce (839995)
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, lively
A defensive player with proficient leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: Shuang Qiu
Nationality: New Zealand
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,515
Wages: £1,067 p/w

Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: respectable Consistency: feeble
Fielding: worthless

Ended up going for 306k, which I personally would've been very willing to pay, especially given the current state of the market.

Nowadays there's also the secondaries to take into account, without giving precise figures they're usually about 1/5 of what the corresponding primary would be, so if we remove the base wage (the 250 wage even all-round worthlesses have)

A feeble primary could add up to 50, but a secondary could only add up to ~10
med would be 50-150, secondary would be ~10-30 and so on.

Didn't see the stats of that high competent, but if they have some med or higher secondaries it can soon add up.

Prices in general are higher, but it's still possible to pick up players like that pretty cheap. I've seen a couple of similar players that I've had bookmarked (17yo high-respectable, OK secondaries) go for ~200k, having missed the deadline. Basically anyone with proficient+ primary and mediocre+ secondary is going for 500k+ though.

All you high-rollers and big-spenders are ruining the transfer market:p. I was trying to pick myself up a nice proficient 17 yr old trainee. Got one last season for 150K, this season it was around 200, 250K

Whose better, A resp-resp-med or a sup-woe-feeb? Oh, and how do you make form change?
sup-woe-feb by a distance - tho they'll probably be annoyingly erratic if they're a batsman.

Form changes more positively in general when someone gets the relevant training or plays a game including friendlies.

im giving one of my guys six nets so i can get him to all competent except for keeping so i can sell him for 1 and a half mill just depends though i am 270000 in debt so trying to train him up until i get into the 350000 zone then i can get some money from him

You won't get that much for an all-round competent. you might get 300k or so if they're 17, obviously less than that if they're older.

There really isnt much chance of you selling a competent allrounder for that much.

Thank you all for your birthday greetings, had a pleasant day away from the computer, taking the other half out for dinner. Although somehow I appear to have ended up paying, not entirely certain how that happened? But the birthday probably ranked in the top three or four, though it couldn't quite live up to the birthday of 2002, when I had the triple celebratory whammy of having one of my first reports on TV, England going out of the World Cup, and getting laid, all on the same day! All three of which were reasonably rare occurrences in those days!

And before you English lot chuck your St. George's flags out of your prams, I'm not anti-England, or at least not universally anti-England, it entirely depends on the sport. I despise the England rugby team with a passion, whereas I actively support the England cricket team. The football side is somewhere in the middle, and indeed it offers the best of both worlds. I mean I'm please for them and excited if they win, but it's still very very funny if they lose!:-)

Anyway, returning to Battrick before I get an E-Kicking, as I predicted, I've wimped out of the side I was going to put out tomorrow. My friendly on Sunday has been re-arranged, so I'm not quite as desperate for fitness as I was. Hence Doug Greening is drafted in as a specialist fielder at No.7, hopefully he won't get to bat, but his Prof fielding is very badly needed. So the side now has batting of: Resp, Resp, Prof, Comp, Comp, Comp, Sup, Woe, Abs, Abs, Abs. The bowling is Resp, Resp, Comp, Med, Comp I've taken advantage of Bent's Resp Stam to bowl him out from B1, I'm banking on him and Edworthy doing irreparable damage to the oppos before the lesser bowlers even get a chance to turn their arms over.

Will update you with my progress tomorrow, Later, Trev
