No pops for me, have 5 players due a primary pop over the next month which would mean I'd have 6 proficient or better bowlers to choose from shortly (2 of them are all-rounders).

I'd recommend taking off one of Geel's batting nets and giving a fielding net to Tahir instead.

I'm not sure it's really worth giving fielding nets to 17, 18 yo etc. all you'll get out of it is one extra con. pop a season (plus fielding popping, which seems to have minimal effect in games anyway) - is that really worth it?

Not sure whether Geel is really worth training given your other trainees, they'd need a fairly long term investment in nets to get them up to a decent level - but if you're going to do that you may as well get a better trainee that would just need batting nets and no stamina nets (mediocre stamina or thereabouts). A bare minimum YP with max ITS would be med stamina and med-med batting, so they'd just be at the same level [since 2 stamina levels (12 weeks training) = 1 batting level (11-12 weeks at 17, 12-13 weeks at 18)].

The first day of eleven which will either make or break my season, both in V.76 and The Blind Cricket BT Cup. This Friday's league match should be a simple enough affair against Gazza's Lads, a newbie, who actually doesn't appear to have a bad starting squad, but who hasn't got a Scooby what he's doing with it. In his three games to-date he's had four spinners bowling, his top five batsmen bowling, his opening bowler scoring 95 at the top of the order, then batting No.11 the following week, and his WK turning his arm over. So that one should be a TIE gi'me, the only interesting/dangerous element being how many of my stars I dare rest. In an ideal world I'd love to leave out Greening, Staveley, Noon, Bewers and Bridges M, though whether I'm brave enough to do that is a different matter. What do you reckon? The team I intend to put out is:

1. Jordan Bennett. Resp+1/2 Bat, Comp Stam, Woe Conc
2. Thomas Mullins. Resp+0 Bat, Med Stam, Feeb Conc, (B4, Med/Prof LFM)
3. * Neale Patel. Prof+0 Bat, Feeb Stam, Resp Conc.
4. + Andy Carless. Comp+5/6 Bat, Woe Stam, Resp Conc. (Comp WK)
5. Jason Creasy. Comp+1/6 Bat, Feeb Stam, Abs Conc.
6. Trevor Wynne-Willson. Comp+1/6 Bat, Feeb Stam, Abs Conc.
7. Kelvin Brammer. Med+3/4 Bat, Woe Stam, Woe Conc
8. B2 Brad Edworthy. Resp+7/8 RFM, Med Stam, Med Cons. (Woe/Med Bat)
9. B3 Joe Crick. Comp+1/5 RF, Feeb Stam, Med Cons. (Abs/Woe Bat)
10. B1 Theo Bent. Resp+5/6 RFM. Resp Stam, Feeb Cons. (Abs/Woe Bat)
11. B5 Colin Andrew. Comp+1/2 LHS, Feeb Stam, Woe Cons. (Abs/Abs Bat)

Is that good enough to win on TIE? If not then there's no point in resting the stars' PFL, if it means that I have to PAN and miss out on a team fitness boost.

Then on Sunday I have a winnable Blind Cricket BT Cup match against what ought to be the favourites. They certainly have the best team in the competition, but they've just been promoted to Div III, where they're getting their rosy little tooshes paddled, and it's starting to be reflected in their ratings. So as I say, I'm fairly confident that I can win it, though I'd have to put out a full strength team. I know friendlies only have a 1/3 fitness whack, but all the same, it's just a day before the training fitness whack, and only five days before I play Dragnets in the game of the season.

Dragnets' ratings in their last two matches have been: Strong/Feeb/Wor - Comp/Comp/Woe, whereas my friendly ratings from yesterday, with a full strength team, were: Resp/Comp/Abs - Comp/Strong/Feeb. Pick a winner out of that lot!! Like me, the majority of their batting falls on the shoulders of one Sup and one Strong, like me they have one Strong, (£2000+) seamer, with the back-up bowling done by a mix of Resps and Comps. But unlike me he doesn't have a Strong Spinner with Resp Cons, and that, I'm hoping, may well turn out to be the difference between the two sides. And yes, if it is, I shall give you the credit Adam!

I am also thinking about suspending training for one week, what do you reckon? Which would be more use? A, a fitness boost from a week without training for the stars? or B, the incremental increase in skill a weeks training would give them?

No training pops today, but again none were due. Waiting until I have 35 ITS next Saturday before pulling an YP. I've given up on 0 ITS Yps, A, because they're a waste of space, and B, because I can't handle the anguish if they could have been good had I only have had some ITS to sink into them.

I think that's probably enough to be going on with, Later, Trev

I wouldn't suspend training, given it's worth 25k minimum (in wages) to start with, but with your squad it's worth a lot more than that. If say you trained a reasonably rounded young proficient up to strong (with con. pop if you're lucky), that would be ~300k in value they've gone up from ~12 or so nets - so that's 25k per net per week... soon adds up if you're training decent players like you probably are.

Only one pop this week:

Kenwynne Sekani - 18 yo, BT Rating=11,293
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, fair
A steady player with woeful leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: strong Consistency: feeble
Fielding: feeble

Should have 3-4 primary pops coming up in next 4-5 weeks. Gutted that the 'new' training system causes secondaries to pop so slowly, I have a few with decent primaries but poor secondaries and they are getting nets but progress is slow/non-existent.

EDIT: Oh and I've reached the stage where interest is sufficient to cover all my costs which is quite nice, got two home games in a row coming up too so should be 300k above that mark by the end of that.

Just did some quick sums and it looks like my wages next season will be well in excess of 70k. Think I'm going to try to get to the 1.6m mark so I can get max interest as I will struggle without it. Only got ~650k at the moment, but with plenty of home matches left I should have 1.4-1.8m by the end of the season depending on how far I get in the cup.

So I'll try to avoid making any big purchases, though I'm still looking for a young trainee in the <400k range. I could really use some more batting depth, but I think I'll be able to get by for now as most teams won't be able to get past both of my gun batsmen. Definitely need to make some purchases before FC start though.

I've got about 420k atm, but after Saturday's league match I should have around 650k. When my cup run eventually ends there should be around 1mil in the bank, which will top 2mil after the sale of holmes towards the end of the season. i think i'll make quite a significant purchase with this money, which will hopefully bring my team up on par with the best sides nz has to offer, and provided i promote this season, it should make me competetive in division II. after this i think that i'll consider what adam is doing, by trying to maintain a bank balance of at least 1.6mil for that extra 80k a week that it'll bring in. this could mean starting each new week in the black instead of 60k in the red.
