Not going into debate of who is better but just a point here. Also said Kohli>Tendulkar
Meh. Peer rating always needs to be taken with lots of grains of salt. Its been shown time and time again to be incredibly biased and illogical. Not going into debate of who is better but just a point here.
When Imran would have said anything about Viv and Gavaskar, that would be in reference to his playing time. He would have bowled to both and was very much into cricket to know who was the best player of his generation.
40-50 years later, he is now not much into the scheme of things in terms of following cricket especially that of outside Pakistan. He is a politician and a former PM of Pakistan. His views on modern cricket would be very generic and based on 1-2 memory of playing them rather than following their whole careers. So, his opinion means nothing when it comes to Tendulkar/ Kohli but it might be worth understanding what his view were on players of his era whom he played against.
if someone manages to argue Gavaskar over Tendulkar they truly mastered the art of bullshittingTo answer the OP, Gavaskar being above Viv is reasonable. I also don't think it's unreasonable to rate him the best Indian batsman ever and/or the 2nd greatest batsman ever.
Depends. Some people really value Modern day Openers and among them, Gavaskar stands clear of others.if someone manages to argue Gavaskar over Tendulkar they truly mastered the art of bullshitting

Unsure if sarcasm or notTo answer the OP, Gavaskar being above Viv is reasonable. I also don't think it's unreasonable to rate him the best Indian batsman ever and/or the 2nd greatest batsman ever.
Man, I really do value wicket keepers, Adam Gilchrist > Len Hutton.Depends. Some people really value Modern day Openers and among them, Gavaskar stands clear of others.
A very orthodox stance, at least 80% of people would agree.Man, I really do value wicket keepers, Adam Gilchrist > Len Hutton.

Opening has something to do with batting, Keeping has nothing to do with batting.I meant as Batsmen
in the context of batting imo opening should give you some extra points if in countries with excess side ways movement or uneven bounce, it shouldn't put you above guys a tier above you in batting like Sachin vs SunnyOpening has something to do with batting, Keeping has nothing to do with batting.
Sachin isn't a tier above Gavaskar in batting reallyin the context of batting imo opening should give you some extra points if in countries with excess side ways movement or uneven bounce, it shouldn't put you above guys a tier above you in batting like Sachin vs Sunny
