Am I the only one here who rates Sunil Gavaskar slightly above Viv Richards in Test?

Meh. Peer rating always needs to be taken with lots of grains of salt. Its been shown time and time again to be incredibly biased and illogical.

For example if someone says x was best bowler I played against, I’d be more inclined to believe they had a memorable spell/innings/match involving them which stuck, rather than any sort of valid statement about quality.

Even for example with Ponting’s recent statements about Kallis (@subshakerz), it could simply be seen as Ponting saying oh he’s the greatest allrounder ever - he was always the target when we played SA in our mind, always the wicket we wanted. Plus he kept getting me out on top of that!
I've said it before. Peer rating of one player may be questionable. Peer rating consensus is more useful.

What are your thoughts on Trumper>Don??? Consensus of 15 out of 16 peers
Maybe being good on tougher wickets was seen as a primary attribute of a great batter, which Don failed to tick. Their nature as human beings also contributed to that ig.

Peer rating consensus is helpful only when it can be backed up by stats (so basically when it supports your claim)
