lol. The “quartet” only ever played 6 matches together, 4 being in that series. Can’t try and denigrate Gavaskar who actually played them when nobody else but Gooch and Boycott did.Sunny only faced the WI pace quartet in one series, 1983. Averaged 30....
Defo Amarnath deserves a mentionI think Gavaskar’s achievements against WI pacers, especially Holding and Roberts, and in the 83 series against Marshall and Co(even tho on home pitches, it was peak Marshall) are commendable. Although my favourite performance against them is Border’s. Only in the first match, it was a weak attack(but Border’s achievements didn’t even come in that match), post that he was the one man standing and surviving against peak Marshall, Garner and Holding
Yeah. His is up there amongst the best, very possibly better than Border’sDefo Amarnath deserves a mention
Hey hey calm down..... No one here puts Viv down like they do Lillee (probably because PEWS and Coronis rates Lillee even further down, but still).don't worry you'll be majority in few years, by 2030 the discussion would be Sehwag vs Viv and not Sunny vs Viv.
Viv's eventual destiny is to go 50-50 with Michael Hussey, it's a given etcHey hey calm down..... No one here puts Viv down like they do Lillee (probably because PEWS and Coronis rates Lillee even further down, but still).
I just have a negative perception on someone posting the same thing in 5 different threads everyday. How do people on this site have no conception of sarcasm lmao
exaggeration, and why does me taking the piss about Hussey being rated above Viv eventually even bother you lol. If you're not socially inept, it's very easy to tell that's just me joking.I just have a negative perception on someone posting the same thing in 5 different threads everyday.
absurdly so, I ran some statistic checks on the wickets and they're borderline otherwordly, like the big three (England, Australia and South Africa) are absolute minefields at a time where West Indies is basically 2000s Australia type pitch, with the pacers averaging 40 on those wickets, spinners fare much much better, I reckon it was the time when Lloyd started building a fast bowling battery to hammer Australia that the windies curators started producing faster more bouncy wickets.WI pitches before the 70s were very flat.
