??? Why does almost every comment about Asian and Pakistani cricketers seem to involve them being 'more naturally talented'? What the hell does that mean?

I am not interested in the players religion, gender or nationality. I readily admitted I haven't seen Asif Iqbal play but going on reports and anecdots alone, he was a runner in the same mould as Jonty but a better strokemaker and a more free-flowing player - hence, my reference to natural ability which does not equate to their actual performances.

Incidently, Rhodes is perhaps my favourite sportsman and one of my childhood hero's. Of course, generalizations about Pakistani's being superior are idiotic, xenophobic jingoists abound in the world. So is pigeonholing and jumping to conclusions based on someone's location alone.

Exactly .This is the point .. Type of talent and the different way of up bringing . No body should generalize this . That was my point . And that is what I was explaining and the gentlemen started laughing that it is the reason that Australia is number 1 . Cricket teams are from the different parts of the world and just enjoy their display and do not just generalize the talent . Every team has a different up bringing . But the focal point is their performance in the field .

Pakistani fast bowlers are of sheer class and I bet that . I have seen academies too . I have been around in the world .I have played cricket too and I have seen great talent of fast bowling . Natural talent I know is sometimes quite a hard word to say as I see the sign boards saying "Jones is God " . " warnie is God " . And I also made a thread that "Are the other teams catching up to the Aussies or what ?"
I never said that Aussies talent is bad or whatever but am sayingthat appreciate the circumstances in which M Yousaf had to go through or Javed Miandad had to go through etc etc . I know what you mean and I totaly agree with you when I see some one making stupid threads saying "Agarkar this ,Agarkar that"? I never saw any one appreciating Wasim Akram as much as the guy deserved or Waqar Younis .................. I know that natural ability thing is over explained ... But thats how it is ... take it or leave it ... Its life you know ... Up some where .. Down at the other spot .............

Leave it ? If Pakistani fast bowlers are sheer class as you claim, the absence of Shoaib should have seen another fast bowler take his place as the Number 1 bowler in your country, not a spinner.

One after another .
There are 5 front line bowlers who are unfit or not available .I am not contradicting my statement .And also I never said that England or Australia or Zimbabwe dont have the bowlers who dont have the sheer class. If you wanna prolong the debate then be that . Basic point was the laughing of the gentlemen that that is why Pakistan is number 1 .Did I say that .HuH . Yes

And that proves what ? Kaneria is still your best bowler. If you cannot bring in a class bowler once your two best pacers are injured, it really shows up the lack of depth in your fast bowling ranks.

He is a certainty in the One day side in my opinion, could score at a fast chip. As for tests, he never bowled with any good degree of support from the other end for a large part of his career. I'm fairly certain he would be a very good performer in that all time sub-continental playing eleven.
