What a stupid thing about the Commonwealth Games, even the athletes didn't seem to be expecting much from the crowd. One of them was talking on his phone

The badminton chick was quite a looker though...

Didnt see her, who was the swimmer?

Delta Goodrem did a good job of singing We are Australian, shameless promotion by channel 10 though with the Idol people

Yep, totally ruined the song, but Delta was good. I hate it when they have pop singers singing Waltzing Matilda and Advance Australia Fair.

Edit: I don't know who the swimmer was, but I hadn't heard of him/her

Gah, me too. Pop singers never seem to get it. The only good performance of that song I've seen at a sporting event was when Slim Dusty did it at the Olympics. Because I assume of his age and his position in Australian music he understood what the song was actually supposed to mean and sang it properly. It drives me up the wall when people sing it as if it's some beautiful celebration of Australian culture, when it's about a hobo who steals sheep to eat and then kills himself to avoid being arrested.

Anyway, rant over. Go Swans!

:laugh::laugh:

Before any of the Englishmen get in here, isn't that what Australia culture is about?

Could be, could be...

It's always seemed like a really sad folk song to me. It's about anti-authoritarianism and he hated British, not about how great the country that said hobo lives in is.
