Hamill is not a tall forward he is 184cm which is par for the course for an AFL midfielder these days.

If he had put his head over the footy and played the ball instead of over running it to snipe Steve Johnson he wouldn't be injured.
How many people 184cm can match Hamill for strength? That's the issue.

Jono, McGuire is a man on man backman for starters, comparing him to Cornes and Whitnall is like comparing Phil Matera and Tony Lockett, totally different type of players. It's not only me who rate him that highly, listen to Walls (even though he is a knob), Lyon, Healy and SOS, just some who spring to mind who I've heard say he's in the top handful of backman in the league.

He's not a complete man-on-man, its not like he's Glass. Considering you sometimes see Maguire storming through the centre and slotting goals from 55m out on the run, he's clearly not in the same mould as your Glass or Fletcher is he?

Maguire plays man on man when the oppositon have two tall targets, such as against Sydney, or if Hudghton is getting owned and a change is needed, such as against Melbourne when Neitz ripped a new hole into Hudghton and Maguire.

Speaking of Neitz, how good was he in that 3rd quarter.

Every backman runs off when their team has the ball. Whitnall and Cornes don't play on anyone even if the opposition have the ball.

Deep down you knew you were never a chance, even in the first quarter :p

Didn't have the defence to keep all of Richo, Schulz, Stafford and Simmo quiet. Way too tall for Thornton and the like.

By the way, give Rainesy the NAB Rising Star now. He's a shoe in. What a gun, we have 3 Rising Star nominees, and I reckon Howat may get one this week as well. :D

By the way, how was that Irish guy in Brisbane today... apparently started playing AFL last season or something ridiculous, and gets the job on Judd and Cousins.

Edit: removal of laughing smiley, its starting to give me the whoops.

Among other things it has been our main problem all year. Our forward line is quite good, midfeild is standard and up and coming but our defence is really really bad and Whitnall is wasting his peak form on it.

I really hope that this years recruiting focuses mainly on tall defensive type players, because they are really the key to us winning matches.

Anyways, pity about Richmond finding form right before the finals which they miss out on by a game or so. If they would have won a game ot two more when they should have, well,. who knows?

Oh and Marc Murphy should be quite high up on the rising star count, even though he has missed quite a few games. But yeah, I would think Raines would be favorite.

Marc Murphy would've won the rising star by so much, big shame he'll miss 7 or so games at the end of the season. Experts said it was he best first season by a player they've ever seen, and that's a big wrap.

Yeah exactly, if Richmond had won the Freo game like they should have, they may have been able to sneak into finals. None the less, assuming they beat Essendon and lose to West Coast in the next 2 rounds, that'll be 11 wins for the season. Last year we won 10. In the past two seasons under Wallace, Richmond's record would thus be 21-23, which is fantastic considering the previous year before Wallace became coach we only won 4 games that year.

The future is looking damn bright with players like Raines, Deledio, Tambling, Polo and Foley. Add a fully fit Nathan Brown into that forward line, and hopefully Coughlan returning after his knee reconstruction next year, then 2007 should be a good year.

Tigers will play finals.

Oh hell yes!

Who are their competitors? Freo? LOL. Geelong only have one more loss and then they're screwed, and Richmond just beat Port Adelaide at home. I know it hurts you all to believe Richmond will finally be there in September, because its just too crazy to fathom, but its quite possible now.!

Look, I don't want to seem like a ****, but I find the Freo comment hilarious right at the minute.

It hurts me more than you know. There's a reason why I've been whinging about why Freo are suddenly good the last few pages of this thread, and its not because their song is ****.

Hahaha.

Yeah, I'm sure if you go through this thread you'll find a ridiculous prediction from everyone. I just thought the Freo one was a gem.

Yeah the Ladder Predictor is awesome, but the problem with it is, every year I end up trying to manipulate it so Richmond make the 8. Did the same thing last year lol.

Anyway realistically this is what I got.
