Okay, I thought you were on about the 2001 game and had made a mistake. My bad.
That game was the one where the Roos didn't have Carey and Essendon made the greatest ever comeback in terms of margin of points. That may not have been the best ever, but was incredible to watch (or listen to in my case as I was living in Singapore at the time) because it was just so weird.

For comebacks, the Essendon vs Adelaide Prelim Final in 1993 is another remarkable one. I remember listening to it on the radio, being totally certain that Adelaide were going to make their first grand final when they were up by 7 or 8 goals at half time, and then the Bombers pulled off an amazing comeback. 11 goals to 2 in the second half, in a must-win final.

Yeah that was historic, I still remember that day. I also remember Adelaide's last quarter come back win over the Doggies in the 97 PF.

That IMO is the greatest come back I've ever witnessed when you put into perspective what was on the line and there was only one quarter left to do it.

Richmond's come back against Essendon in the 95 SF was also great. 5 goals down at half time in an elimination final, they played one of the best quarters I've ever seen in that third quarter.

Does it have vision of him running through blokes? That's the one thing about Ablett (and also with Lockett): people weren't just scared of what he could do with the football, but what he might do without the footy. It created an aura that Dunstall, the other champion full-forward of the time, didn't have.
It has everything. Basically someone has gone through every game in his career and picked out bits and pieces of everything including injuries etc. I had to laugh when he pulled down a massive grab 15m out above three melbourne defenders and then proceeded to miss the shot on goal. It was very Richo-esque :-O

Pppfh, Richo would have kicked it... on the full ;)

Btw, Richo gone for 2-3 weeks, Hayes out for the season and its very possible that Judd may not play until the mid-season break since his hamstring injury is his first soft tissue one, and WC will likely play it safe.

On top of all the suspensions, round 9 has been a crazy week.

The Melbourne match committee would have to be pretty stupid to have believed and prepared for something written on a messageboard, even if it did turn out mostly correct. Expect a flood of fake ones from "people in the know" now.

The Age has an exclusive that next years GF may be a night Grand Final starting at 630. The networks are pushing for it, for higher ratings and they may get it as they are paying so much for the rights.

At first I was digusted at the fact that something that has been done for over a hundred years could be so friviolously changed by some corporation. But now I think, whats the difference. A grand final at night, or day its really rather inconsequential and is not worth really debating about.

Thoughts?
