Yeah I realised that....

The great man actually tried his hand at soccer after Ayres ended his career, I don't think he ever got very far with it though.

Was definitely a crack up. That audio piece of "Out of bounds... on the full" would make my day everytime it was said.

Quality game.

Great game tonight, come to think of it, it has been a very exciting week of footy. I am a big Carlton supporter myself, try and get to every game and put on a brave face but its getting really, really hard. I dont know how much more cellar dwelling I can take, we are a proud club with a great history but whats the point in investing effort and tears into a side that realistically will not make the finals in the next 5 years.

Bring back Sticks Kernahan.

I remember the good ol' days when I was a kid going to the MCG and watching Kernahan, SOS and deisel dominate. Those were the happiest days of my life. Especially beating collingwood.

SOS = Legend.

Carlton went downhill post-2001.

In 2000 they could have put a legitimate challenge to Essendon, until Kouta did his knee. 2001 they scared Essendon beating them twice, and then in 2002 they suddenly won the wooden spoon. It was a mighty fall.

Right on, when kouta did his knee carlton began the steady decent. If not for that one incident (after which I nearly cried) I believe we would have won the premiership. If that would have happened things would be alot different right now. Funny how one knee (and John Elliot) can bring down one of the oldest clubs.

The question is, can big Pagan bring it back up.

It all looked good in 2004 when Carlton had a pretty decent season, then 2005 happened.

Waite will be a star though, you can build around him and then you've got Murphy and probably draf picks this year again. It'll happen like it happened to St Kilda.

They went through Blight and Tim Watson etc. as coaches, but when the draft picks and young talent started maturing (Riewoldt, Koschitze, Ball, Dal Santo) they became a great team. However I reckon they are seriously going to be worse than Essendon and waste all their talent.

Essendon from 99-2001 domnated yet only won 1 premiership... St Kilda are looking to not even make a grand final in this period of strength for them (2004 - ???).

Who wants to go through what Sk Kilda are going through now? They had 10 horrible years but were able to get stacks of amazing talent because of it and still cant capatalize. Same with Carlton, to spend the next few years rebuilding for the slight shot at a premiership and after that shot, we loose all our players becuase of the salary cap, who needs that? I hate this youth policy where half the teams are constantly in a rebuilding phase. PA and Ess are doing it now after being so dominant just a few years ago. Bris and Syd will be doing it shortly. It makes football so boring.

Lol, well at least teams like Essendon, Brisbane and Port are rebuilding (Port aren't to the extent Essendon are though) after years of success.

Teams like Hawthorn and Richmond (:() are rebuilding after sucking for ages anyway. We're rebuilding something that was crap in the first place. Consistently coming 9th, and a preliminary final in 2001 is all we've done in the past decade.

That being said, St Kilda not capitalising on their talent is their own fault (granted injuries are a part too). But they should easily have made the GF in 2005. Fair enough 2004 they came up against Port and gave it their best shot at AAMI stadium, but losing that PF to Sydney was shocking and they had no excuse for that. Especially after going to AAMI the previous fortnight and beating Adelaide.

If they dont win the premiership this year, the current team will break up and they will become nothing more than a footnote in history. Which is a real pity becuase, on paper, without a doubt they have one of the best sides of the past 30 years. After this year it will be over for Harvey, Gehrig and Hamill and others will get snapped up by other clubs and that will be it. As I said, a real pity especially for Robert Harvey who is in my top 10 all time greatest players, yet may not ever experiancy the glory.

No team that has actually came out and said they were rebuilding has won anything so far.

I'm a Geelong fan and we have been rebuilding since 99 when Thompson took over. It is very hard without the prime draft picks, I think Geelong are the only team not to finish in the bottom 4 in over 20 years! Possibly the Crows as latecomers as well. It does makes a difference, add a Riewoldt/Kosi, Pavlich/Haselby combo to our team and we would be unstoppable.

We should be sitting 4-0 after winning the NAB cup. The Hawthorn game was atrocious and we were missing the entire spine against the doggies and went down by a point. Not good enough considering we haven't had to go interstate yet where we lose every single time no matter who we play *sigh* Things were looking so good two weeks ago :(

Geelong were my flag favorites, now you guys went down the drain, just watched the replay of this weeks game, damn exciting. Gotta love the one pointers.

Gazza Jnr was phenomenal in that match.

Ottens really lifted his game too, best game I've seen him play since he left us. If he can get to full fitness and do that more often, particularly since King is one of those players you just assume will injure himself sooner or later and Geelong are going to need him, Ottens may finally completely fulfill his potential.
