Agreed and they were also ahead in the first test but squandered it there as well. Imo, they need at least a lead of 150+, then we'll see what Oz is made of. I won't count Oz out; not when they have players like Smith but score board pressure is a thing and 150 + hole is intimidating. I'm glad nobody made a big deal of the dropped catches because india dropped a ton in the first test especially that of Tim Paine.Agree. I hate to always be negative on India but I've seen them get ahead before against South Africa, England and squander it. This being said, I'm thrilled at this fightback and to put up a reasonable score is way beyond my expectations. Australia looked positively lethal in the first 10 overs!
I would agree on Warner. I don't see anyone in India's bowling line up having the same power of Warner as Broad and Archer. And with one of Umesh / Siraj taking the new ball, can see Warner getting off to a few quick starts forcing the field to come out and early spin.I just think the dispirited mindset of Australia in the last session was driven not just by the missed chances, but by the lack of confidence in their batting lineup.
Warner's absence is such a massive issue for them as there's no sense of authority at the top of the order and therefore the belief they can set a decent target for India to chase.
Of all their quicks he was the one who scared me most. Frighteningly quick and you were worried the batsman would end up hurt. Some bowler. Was properly rapid, PP.
Used to love the metal plate he'd have on his boot to protect his foot from the drag in his action.
I like the way he hits the ball cleanly. He has disappointed me also I wish he would talk to Matt Hayden about his technique or vice versa.maybe he just needs to get out another few times wafting with his bat well away from his pad for you to reconsider
i don't think the bloke is all that bad or indeed should be red-inked out as a future test prospect. but the compactness of his technique is absolutely the glaring weakness of his batting. he flashes outside off stump way, way too often with minimal footwork.
The pitch has flattened and is likely to wear. Frankly I would like India to establish a big lead to spark Australia's batting line up a couple of whom are too ****y for their own good.Think all Indian fans will agree we still don't want to be chasing many more than 100. A little more confident now that a few guys have put their hands up but those opening spells by Cummin & co. remain touch and go. Some luck their way and we can easily be 20/5 again.
Would be nice to hear stuff like this in commentary.
I tuned them out when they compared Lyon to a 'breaststroker' and how he just has the easiest job.Pretty sure all those points were made by the current commentary team in some form or other at various junctures, just that their signal-to-noise ratio isn't the greatest.
