I remember seeing Jerome Taylor one of the Stanford matches bowling a full over at 150 kph + peaking at 153 kph. He is quite pacy! I expect him to come to the party within the next year or two.

Pick a South Africa XI readmission to 2008

Daryll Cullinan Daryll Cullinan was a majestic strokemaker at his best. Easily the most talented batsman since re-admission along with Gibbs and Duminy. My team... Graeme Smith Gary Kirsten Jacques Kallis Daryll Cullinan Herschelle Gibbs Ashwell Prince Shaun Pollock Mark Boucher Fanie de...

Johnson is not any quicker than Steyn. The spell that Steyn bowled after lunch on day 1 was quick as any that Johnson has bowled. The problem with Johnson is that is his only weapon. Steyn is 2 bowlers into one. His is first and foremost a swing bowler at 140 - 145 km/h and if there is no swing...

Steyn vs. Lee in Aus. Predictions

Steyn & Morkel potentially = Marshall & Garner in 2 years time. I reckon Morkel just needs a tad more aggression and attitude.

At what age do quick bowlers tend to decline?

Wear & tear is a bigger factor in the decline of fast bowlers than chronological age. Curtly Ambrose and Allan Donald's Test careers started late and they where in their prime at age 30-32.

Well done to Ricky Ponting on a stroke-filled classy century although he would be disappointed not to kick on. Dale Steyn actually bowled his fastest deliveries towards the end of the day which is quite unusual and shows me that he probably bowls within himself even at 145 km/h. He is really...

    Do you rate Mitchell Johnson?

Left-arm genuinely quick bowler with striking ability and limitless energy, whats not to like? Personally I would rate him better that Brett Lee and Morne Morkel and about on par with Dale Steyn. There should be more like him in this day and age of fast/medium merchants.

I half agree on that.. Not sure we have seen the best of him yet though  I reckon he will improve as the series and indeed the return series goes on. He seemed a tad nervous but did look dangerous when he managed to swing the new ball on day 3.

Mmm.. Not so sure the MCG will be that flat. They might consider spicing things up a bit considering the obvious lack of firepower on OZ side. A bit of grass and Brett Lee might suddenly look like a world beater...
