*Official* Third Test (Headingley, Leeds) 6–10 July

They overlooked that part of the "spirit of cricket" preamble to the laws of the game (found in the limited edition Aussie version) that says above all else to "never give a mug an even break" (especially when the mug is also a pom). More fool him. :D

What did Bradman think of that Windies team?

There is a couple of humorous anecdotes re Bradman and the Windies (first one vouched by Dean Jones and Merv Hughes). After a day where Merv gave stiff opposition (72 not out) he went to the Windies dressing room at Adelaide to meet the team (with an attack of Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh and...

There might be a few twists and turns left in this one yet. Both teams known for getting to good positions and throwing it away. Could be very close this.

It has been done before. Remember when Flintoff worked Hughes out so they dropped him and promoted an all rounder (Watson) up the order? We didn't win the series, but were never going to but Watson fared ok. His strike rate doesn't matter that much, if he could stay there for a while, hopefully...

A lot of people have been suggesting that he was a dud in England for years and knew what to expect. You realise he was Broad's bunny and averaged 9.5 last Ashes series out here? Warner is always a good selection in Aus. but never in England. We're just waiting for our selectors to wise up to it.

From his 31 innings in England Warner has 0 centuries and an average of 25. From his 4 innings at Old Trafford he averages 11. Would be a good time to replace him.

He's just having an ordinary series. Was bound to happen eventually, happens to the best of them.

*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

Good points. It seems (afaik) that Stokes alerted the umpires to the replay of the catch which showed Starc grounding the ball. So they sent it upstairs. It was clearly not out on replay (you can't ground the ball like that). You make some good points but I'm happy enough the correct decision...

I actually think they'll drop Warner if we lose this one. Broad has been living in his head rent free for too long.

There's a possibility of them folding sub 200 for sure. I think a 250 lead will be interesting. 300 more than enough. You never know though.

That doesn't rule out the he overdoes the "look, I'm this good and I'm injured" bit and has been known to lay it on pretty thick, though. These things aren't mutually exclusive.

No doubt he is carrying injuries (as others probably are) but Jesus he doesn't mind bunging on a show about it either. A drama queen for sure. Still he only has to start swinging the bat and we go to water.

A forgettable series for Boland so far. 36 overs for 2 wickets @ 91 apiece. Going at 5+ runs an over. That's cannon fodder.

With little Davey firmly in Broad's pocket Marnus is regularly opening anyway, or might as well be.

Ali 2-74 so far. Murphy 1-36 after only 7 overs in the match so far and after being given the ball when Stokes was going the tonk. It's a stretch to say he's been "outbowled". I thought it was a good change up from the waist/chest high pie shop the quicks were running. As the best offie they...

*Official* Third Test (Headingley, Leeds) 6–10 July

An early wicket or two and this could be over on day three, but if we bat most of the day the poms will be up against it. Anything could happen, it's been a great series so far. Wish our bowlers would mix it up a bit more to the tail, too predictable IMO. An occasional 150kph Starc yorker on the...

The way Green was playing Marsh might be an upgrade. Though in all probability a like for like swap. Win the toss and send them in if it's tinged with green and cloudy skies? Would love to see if they stick to their free scoring/ going the tonk mode if the conditions are bowler friendly.

What is the spirit of cricket?

In the context in which it occurred I thought it was brilliant and know many people who felt similarly, and also look back on it with fondness if not a chuckle. I get what you mean though, wouldn't have liked it to be a commonplace tactic and so the rule needed revising.

*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

Lol. I get (and agree with) the sentiment but think that could largely be proven wrong. Nazism was largely inspired by European colonialism (they especially loved the British version) but really, as any honest historian would acknowledge, the US provided the template for them. The similarities...
