    South Africa v Bangladesh

I cannot for the life of me understand why Rajin Saleh opted to bat first in those overcast conditions. What was he thinking ? In those conditions a lot of the teams would have struggled to bat comfortably against a decent pace attack. And the problem with the Bangladesh batsman is that they...

MacGill must tour India - Ganguly

If he is a Kumble type bowler, he has to be accurate like Kumble too or else he will get smacked around. That's been Kumble's recipe for success because if there is uneven bounce in the wicket, he has to be able to pitch the ball on the rough which gives the maximum bite and his work is done if...

    India V Kenya

Yeah I agree this is ridiculous. Players like Yuvraj are young players with talent and potential to be good and consistent and so need the support of the team but the Indian press and the fans sensationalize everything.Like Irfan Pathan being the next Wasim Akram....all you can do is ignore the...

    Sachin to miss Trophy

Yeah ? And who is the most successful captain in Indian cricket history ? Sachin Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid or someone called Ganguly ? And how many captains in Indian ODI history have taken the team to a world cup final ?

    Sachin to miss Trophy

Stop touting anyone who can score 30 odd runs and take a few wickets as an allrounder and that too a "genuine allrounder". That dilutes the meaning of the word. Bahutule or Powar replaces who in the Indian team ? Kumble or Harbhajan or both ? Give me a break. A lot of players have been tigers in...

Australia announce bowling-heavy squad for India

Well mate, I never said that didn't have any effect. But I see your point....there were threads where this was discussed. IMO, McGrath's presence in that tour would have surely made a difference. Not sure about Warne though.

    For all you Ganguly haters...

Well if you look at it the other way, Ganguly has scored 64 % of his ODI 100s against the major test playing nations and that's an impressive 14 100s. And Zimbabwe wasn't at all in the same league as the other minnows you mentioned till recently, and so if we count the 3 100s he scored against...

Wisden's Greatest Post War England XI

Yeah I would say Boycott's claim to that opener slot is bigger then Gooch's.

    The Standard Of Fast Bowling

yeah Malcolm's hatchet job of SA in 1994 was his highpoint, but he bowled quite menacingly in the 1990 tour of WI.

MacGill must tour India - Ganguly

I think the selectors have done a fine job. Taking two leggies to India doesn't make sense...yes White is a leggie, but of the Kumble variety I hear.Anyway Australia will be better served if they pick three regular quicks and Warne and leave the job of getting breakthroughs if necessary, to the...

I see Angus Fraser who I really liked as a bowler. And Devon Malcolm at times was awesome. who else ?

Wisden's Greatest Post War England XI

Now that you reminded me, I checked to see that Statham beats Bedser statistically too, and that after playing 20 more matches then Bedser. I saw some footage of Statham and Trueman operating in tandem in a TV series that Gavaskar did in India long time ago in the 80s, and Statham apeared to...

Wisden's Greatest Post War England XI

Actually Statham gets less credit because he played mostly under the shadow of Trueman and with Trueman being such a character, Statham almost went unnoticed in most occasions. But he was the perfect foil for Trueman to perform his heroics while Statham kept doing his steady line and length job...

    For all you Ganguly haters...

yes, and that's why Ganguly also got a lot of flak from the Sachin fans when Dravid declared in that test with Sachin stranded on some 190 odd runs.

Wisden's Greatest Post War England XI

My opinion is Statham should be in place of Bedser. He was more reliable and his accuracy was legendary. He was the McGrath of his time.IMO, Tyson played too little to be considered in the best post-war team for England

Australia announce bowling-heavy squad for India

I would say Australia's best bet would be to play 3 quicks in the form of McGrath,Gillespie and Kasprowicz and 1 spinner in Warne. This combination almost won them the series last time around and so I don't think anything has changed siginificantly, not to give these blokes another shot at it...

    Your four semi-finalists

kids don't play any sports unless they idolize someone from that sport or want to be someone in that sport. And that sports culture comes from the homes where the parents dictate the shots and the child grows up on a staple of American Football, baseball and basketball and when he/she goes to...

    Your four semi-finalists

Yes there is a heck of a lot of $$$ floating around in the US, but they also know where to spend them specially in sports. Major League Soccer(MLS) has a tough time getting enough of those $$$ because football is too boring for the Americans, and its considered a game for the girls and not the...
