I have to say that, as much as I like Vettori as a player (especially when he was a shaggy-haired bespectacled student), he strikes me as a bit of a ****. There are some cricketers I'd love to go for a drink with, there are some I really wouldn't, and that bears little or no correlation to how...

    Semi Finals and Final Discussion

I'll accept that there has been doubt over Murali's action, and I realise that, no matter what he's done, he'll always be a chucker in some people's eye. Malinga, however, is another matter. Do you not find it odd that no serious cricket commentator or writer has questioned his action...

    Semi Finals and Final Discussion

Pakistan are just two "fight like cornered tigers" team talks away from winning this one! No, seriously, things are coming together for them -- it's as though Lady Luck's sitting in their metaphorical passenger seat. You could say the same about the WIndies, however.

Simply. Seriously? For a start, it would take immense athleticism to get to that ball, do the jumping stuff, then get back inside the ropes quickly enough. Even with a second fielder handling the pick-up, it'd not going to be easy. Secondly, we're also talking seriously good co-ordination...

I'd be inclined to train one up, once you've got some free nets -- with both batting and WK nets, you can afford to take a cheap trainee with poor conc, e.g. high Competent WK and batting, Mediocre or even Feeble conc, and end up with a nicely balanced player. If you've got the space in your...

Indeed it has. GRRRRRRR to Afridi. Oh well, at least he's in my fantasy league team. But which Pakistani batting lineup is going to turn up today?

That's a pretty damn fine-looking trannie you've got there ;) What's your current WK like? I think the general consensus is that Remarkable WK is all you need...while you could get there starting from woeful, I wouldn't bother. DEFINITELY two batting nets plus fielding and stamina (rotating if...

Indeed. I'd go as far as saying that, to have your team progress, you'll need to set up some trainees NOW who'll go to Exceptional+ as they mature. Two bowlers, minimum. Surround them with a core of Remarkables, and you'll do alright.

I think it's something like £2M upwards for a mid-20s Quality, £3M for Remarkable and £4M for Wonderful. Add a million for early 20s, £2M for 19yos. Or something. Either way, they're not cheap! You won't get too much for those players... Adams. Getting on a bit...around £800k, I reckon...

Trust me -- unless he's recently invested in a Stannah stairlift, he'll go for a shedload more than £150k. Probably more like £1500k if he's young.

    Training help

He's on a keeping net because andruid's trying to get his consistency up to a decent level -- there's no point in having a Remarkable+ bowler if his cons is only Proficient! In response to andruid, I'd keep him as-is and his cons shoudl catch up in a season or so.

171/5 with a free hit coming up then three legitimate balls remaining. I'm very impressed that the WIndies have managed to stay in there right 'til the end!

 x 2 Found it! So, who wants to argue with umpire Holder?

I was reading a discussion on a scarily similar scenario just the other day...possibly in the Guardian's "You're the Umpire" column. The key thing is that it's not a six until the ball comes into contact, direct or indirect, with the ground. So, as long as the player is in the air when he...

    Help

If that's the same bunch you posted earlier, you should just get rid of half of them -- they're rubbish. A successful training regime will give you well-rounded players in about 2 seasons' time. If you're lucky, one net will suffice...but most players would need two or more.

Go to their pavilion -- if there isn't a manager listed, the team's a bot. All the players will be on Worthless form, too.

    Help

There's nothing wrong with training up lots of players with one net. HOWEVER, it's not usually the best way to get rounded players. Secondaries are important! Typically, I'd use a minimum of 1 x bowling and 1 x fielding on a young bowler, possibly 1 x stamina too. If he's a decent 17/18yo...

    Battrick

Welcome to BT :) I've just had a quick look at your opponents' team -- it's a BOT, i.e. an unmanaged team with all its players set to Worthless form. You should be absolutely destroying them!
