Well, it's four levels' difference, so perhaps not so bad. If you're going to keep him, and will be happy with a Wond/Wond all-rounder, you may as well stick 1 batting, 1 bowling and 1 fielding net on him. Perhaps WK if you've got spare nets, and stamina too (but that can wait, as it's going to...

    Help!

I do find that my attacking FM (Brooker) is never far behind my defensive one (Gibb), despite being two levels behind on both primary and secondary (Remarkable vs Exceptional). Interestingly, while Gibb's OD stats are slightly better (I've had both players since pretty much the start, and...

    Battrick Commentary

That's why we should all fill in as much "boring" commentary as possible.

Should have stated that I was talking about primary nets -- stamina and fielding are different. Well, if you will be a fancy-pants elite cup-winning team...

VERY. I think some people reckon on 1 level of PFL equating to 10% of a player's skills. Morale is important too -- that's often why some teams have a late season slump after a few defeats, while others come from nowhere with a few mid-season wins and start winning games.

Yep. You do get some crazy young players, but that's due to people double- or triple- netting from 17yo. If you do the maths (or at least, manipulate the spreadsheet), you get much more value for your nets by single-netting for longer periods of time...as long as you don't train past 23yo...

You lose about 5%, right? I still think you need to send out a clear message, as there are enough people out there (going from HT experience, admittedly) who are prepared to bid on their own players to drive up the price. Be that a significant over-bid, going above market value (which was the...

Just got a BT-mail from him saying that I'd got a bargain and he'd hoped to get >£4M, so he was most probably just trying to get a few more pennies. I wouldn't have gone that high, anyway. If I decided I wanted a player back, I'd be upping the bid considerably (e.g. £3.3M to £4M rather than...

Really? Honestly, I saw it as the owner trying to bump the price up, testing my resolve with a late bid. Possibly being overly cynical but, if he seriously wanted the player back, wouldn't he have made a statement with a considerably higher bid? I don't hang around on the transfer market much...

I'd be pretty wary of training an all-rounder from Mediocre on both primaries -- he's never going to be a star on single nets, and I don't think he's got the potential to justify multiple nettage. The Abysmal consistency will take a while to catch up, too. Seems to me that he's actually more of...

Mah, Mac, Mo...they're usually some of the less uncomplimentary ones, anyway! So, a bit more than halfway to Strong. Looks like I'm abandoning my plan to get a £6M+ player, and instead buying two possible skill trades, one of whom (hopefully) will be a slight improvement on my current 5th...

Maddy? I've been called many things, but that's a first. Any idea how close to strong he is? I'll probably go up to £1M, assuming I can stay up that late!

Heh, you would say that! Harbin, my existing trainee, is 18yo Qual/Comp with Prof/Qual batting -- Winters can't quite compete as a main trainee, but I'll certainly give him a go if cheap.

Interesting. I've already got a long-term attacking F trainee but, if Winters stays low, I might pick him up anyway. Got two potentially spare nets. Decisions, decisions...

    Help!

It's Friday afternoon though, and I'm bored at work. Here are my notes... Hendrik Very nice. Should be at the core of your team for years. WK, bat, fld, (stm) O'Carroll Also nice, should make the #5 slot his own. bwl, bat, fld, stm Adeel Not worth training as a 'keeper. Won't ever be great...

Heh, a bit harsh, but perhaps justified 8-) Marcus, it'd be nice to give us your thoughts so we can tear them to shreds properly

    CW Batstats Rankings

Dammit! Having sold Reed before he got too old, and not yet found a suitable replacement (who'd probably be younger but not as good, anyway), it may be some time before I reclaim 3rd spot :( Could easily slip to 5th by the end of the season. Tough times at the NCMG.

It absolutely annoys the crap out of me when you're up against a side with exactly two good batsmen and naff all else...and you can't get either of them out. GRRRRRRR.

Abysmal stamina's the deal-breaker for me. That's six levels below Proficient, which I regard as the minimum for an all-rounder. It'd take almost 3 seasons to get there.
