Can you beat for the cricket guru title?

642 all out by Essex vs Glamorgan in 2004. If correct, can someone else come up with a question for now?

Is Strauss's Test selection justified ?

I don't know why really. Pretty much just enjoyed watching him bat when he was in Australia in 02/03 and have liked him since.

Is Strauss's Test selection justified ?

Seriously, I'd love to see Key playing for England again. One of my favourite players tbh.

Mohd Yousuf vs Rahul Dravid In ODI's

Dravid seems to come up with a vital innings when the team needs him most, and is imo more adaptable in ODIs than Yousuf - he's turned himself into a quality finisher while still being able to hold the team together from the top of the order when he needs to. I haven't seen Yousuf do that as...

    ***Official*** India in England

That's irrelevant to how good they are as batsmen though. Yuvraj's experience comes from playing mostly ODIs anyway, Laxman is by far the more accomplished Test batsman and probably the better batsman overall.

    Criticising Tendulkar the in thing

Pratyush, if you didn't read it then, here's that dicussion of the 'Whither Tendulkar' article I was talking about. It starts from Manee's post, post 996.

    Criticising Tendulkar the in thing

Not touching this one with a 10 foot clown pole. Seriously though, Pratyush, there was a pretty good discussion of that CricInfo article 'Whither Tendulkar' in the India vs Bangladesh thread I think. I don't have time to find it now, I'll dig it up later.

    ***Official*** India in England

Only reason is the other openers are all very inexperienced. I can definitely see the logic behind his omission though, and it's not something I'm fussed about. Other than that, the only disappointment for me is the inclusion of Ishant Sharma - it's a hard ask to go on a long tour of England...

    ***Official*** India in England

Hmm, disappointed to see Munaf not selected. I'd have him ahead of Ishant Sharma tbh. Suppose there are question marks surrounding his fitness/attitude though. I would've had Sehwag in there, but it's not a big surprise that he didn't make the cut.

    Bext Young XI of 2005-2007

Before this current WI vs England Test, they'd both played eight Tests...Plunkett has 22 wickets @ 37.09, Sreesanth has 37 wickets at 25.97. There's very little different in their ODI records, but Sreesanth has comfortably been the better bowler in Test matches.

'Real' (ie Standardised) Test Batting Averages

First problem I see is that draws are dependent on the quality of bowlers...batsmen shouldn't really be penalised if the bowlers can't take wickets, I'm sure there are cases where brilliant bowlers have made a 'draw' pitch into a 'result' pitch.

Playing selector: Lets pick the best test XI of different eras

Pretty difficult to find scientific articles available for free (or able to be posted here) around, but here's something that touches on a similar theme.

Playing selector: Lets pick the best test XI of different eras

Are you actually serious? There are numerous studies around that show how humans have gotten faster/stronger/taller/bigger over the past 25/50/70/100+ years. Arguing against it is like arguing the earth is flat, just about every piece of observable evidence goes against it. Unless you want to...

    Were Vaughan's comments justified?

Haha geez. He was castigated for the incident and punished for it. What sort of 'general cricket-loving public' would have missed the furore surrounding the incident when it actually happened?
