Smith just smoked that one. Good reply from Bresnan.

Right now McGrath would be a better bet than Hussey that boy can't even get past double figures lately.

How come Shahzad is over here apart from playing this game if hes not in the squad?

    ***Official*** Australian Domestic Season 2010/11

Geez all our batsmen are heading into the Ashes with no form or in Clarke's case with a back injury. The only other one that looks good is our keeper.

Add that to my growing list of pet hates against them. Shahzad unlucky again, just hope these conditions don't suddenly change when the Aus A bowlers come onto bowl as seems to be the case at times.

Was going to say before the Ferguson wicket how low Smith is batting. He should be at 6 with Paine in the usual spot for a keeper at 7. It's not like Smith can't bat either.

Well there goes Ferguson with North and Hussey breathing a sigh of relief.

Very nice start by Ferguson. Should be a good test of his technique on this pitch.

Shahzad bowling very nicely, hasn't really bowled a bad ball and getting close to producing that wicket taking ball.

Tremlett bowled well in that over had Hughes in all sorts before finally getting him.

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

I'd love to have Harris for the Gabba test but if Bollinger pulls through then we have him and Siddle as the 4 pace options which gives Harris another Test to recover if one of the quicks have a shocker in Brisbane.

We already have that in Hauritz. If you take out India where Harris also took a pasting then their economy is very similar as they go from series to series.

Agree, Casson was alright on debut but then he gets dropped because he bowls left-arm chinaman. Krejza I could slightly understand but I felt he should have been given another chance. Then you have O'Keefe who appeared to be the backup spinner and rightfully so based on what hes done. He hasn't...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

As has been said our spinners are essentially two 5 fers from jumping the spin queue. And likewise the incumbent test spinner is 1 series worth of expensive spin from being hang out to dry. Haurtiz was picked for his defensive abilities but was going at more than Johnson in India. You could...

Good to see he'll be getting a game this week.

This was including the blacklist players who are actually available. Cosgrove has been making runs before SA stuffed him about, still did well in England averaging 49.5 and started this season well. David Hussey enough said really. Cameron White has been averaging close to 50 when he gets the...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Clarke played 7 games in 99-00, 5 in 00-01, 9 in 01-02, 11 in 02-03, 3 in 03-04, 12 in 04 during his English stint. So essentially apart from 00-01 hes played close to a full season the 03-04 is made up by his stint in County Cricket. That is basically 5 seasons of cricket before being picked...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

When the selectors mark you down as a future test player all those things you mentioned go out the window. I'm just pointing out where the selectors are coming from and the similarities between Ferguson being picked and Clarke. Personally I wanted Ferguson to have another season in FC before...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Clarke had 5 seasons before he got picked for his Test debut. Ferguson is going into his 6th now. So not much difference on that front, there is a difference in the age of their debut with Clarke at 23 while Ferguson will be 26 if he makes his one. 3 years extra for Clarke to develop...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Selectors love picking on potential and ODI form. Clarke is the prime example and he had a pretty similar record to Ferguson before he was picked for his Test debut. Clarke before his debut 28.78 25.57 39 47.82 27.5 (Aus A in WI) 60.75 35.45 (England) Callum Ferguson to date 38.57 36.14 24.92...
