If he keeps batting like this then there is no harm in having a 5th seamer in there. All about him being able to hold a spot for his batting.

Smith has looked good so far, might have the high backlift but his defence is solid.

Ended up being Anderson so might have jumped the gun :p From the naked eye he looked to have a bit of pace on him, didn't get to see much of him to Trott which is a shame.

Hope its not too serious, looked like he was getting back to the form that saw him picked to tour SA. Duffield looks to be a good talent, beat the bat quite a few times just then.

Agree, the bowling is too undisciplined. Starting in India and carried on through this series, no yorkers, no slower balls just half volleys and short stuff that bounce waist high.

SL setting good field and the bowlers are backing up the captain. There in lies our problem on the bowling front, batting is a whole different story.

For once I agree with the DL total, SL had lots in the shed and were looking good to post a decent total before the rain hit again.

Kulasekara looks like hes going to be a handful, that first ball to Ponting looked good too.

I would say White's part time bowling option is out the window now that he hardly bowls. Khawaja bowled a bit in Grade cricket and has a wicket this season.

Don't see any problem in not valuing the T20 cap, when it is being valued then we got problems as it would have overtaken Test cricket for importance.

Shame to see Smith go but boy he gave us some entertainment.

I just having a feeling he will be intent on surviving rather than looking to score. All guess work though, only way to know is to see him open. Well played Khawaja, now to go on for a biggie.

Khawaja actually scored back to back 200 for NSW 2nd XI as opener so he certainly can do it. I'm confident he would go well where ever he is put, it would be more about Hussey. There are pros and cons for moving him up the order. The change would be a pro but moving up the order would more than...

Wouldn't need to move Hussey, Khawaja is a natural opener which hes been doing in 2nd 11 and grade cricket.

    Brad Hodge for ODI's??

The problem for Hodge is hes more an opener/3 so batting him elsewhere brings him back to the playing field and he isn't as effective. The selectors seem to be set on Haddin/Paine and Watson as the opener and after that we have the captain and vice captain. A Watson/Hodge opening combo could be...

Very good all round display by NSW, this could be the year for them in Shield and then hopefully this form carries onto the other formats.

Hauritz doesn't have the luxury to be going at 4 an over like Johnson does. Fine if he isn't going to take wickets but then he should be keeping it tight which was the reason he got picked in the first place. At this rate we would have been better of with Smith or Starc and relying on North and...

It's more based on what hes done before this, this just confirms what we already know.

Khawaja wouldn't look out of place at 3 either, definitely looking good as Ponting's replacement. If McDonald keeps this sort of batting form up he might get himself a late ODI ticket or maybe even another Test cap. His bowling would certainly be handy if he could keep himself in the side as a...
